View - providing the ultimate online entertainment guide since 2000
Since View first started over 14 years ago, we haven't changed what we originally set out to do; our sole aim was to get everyone to know where to eat, drink, dance and enjoy themselves in their town or city, and at the same time give those venues the chance to tell people what they have to offer. Bringing together businesses and customers in one unique setting, we like to think of ourselves as the ultimate social matchmaker.
Back in 1999, two brothers were becoming increasingly frustrated with not being able to find information about new bars, restaurants and clubs online, and so they decided to create a website that gathered all available venue information in one place. Thus a fledgling View was born, giving Londoners the chance to see precisely what they might be missing under their own noses.
As time went by View expanded its format and loads of extra features were added, enabling users to share their experiences with reviews, and buy tickets to go and see live acts. Before long, London was joined by a wealth of 20 other city sites, as the View platform covered the rest of the UK in 2008. Featuring the same key elements of venue listings, events and tickets, these little sister sites gave people in places like Glasgow, Birmingham and Belfast the lowdown on all where to go and what to see.
Rolling on to 2015 and the company is now a teenager; but instead of slamming the door and sulking in its bedroom all alone, View wants to get out and have even more fun! With a brand new responsive design, that automatically changes size with each user device, we now also cover everywhere in the UK, helping millions of people find out what's going on down at their local, or which bands are playing near their mate's house in the next county.
How it all began
What's special about View?
At View, we like to think that we see things a little differently; where other guides tend to favour either online users or local business, we like to look at them equally. Providing a balanced view (like the yin and yang of the online entertainment world) we have created a fantastic platform for businesses to promote their venues and events, and given our users the tools with which to enjoy finding them.
