Bohemia reviews

By David C.

Ate at Bohemia last night; a small independent restaurant tucked away in Selly Oak (what a find!).

Really friendly service and an excellent choice 2 or 3 course set menu; obviously all freshly cooked ingredients and caters well for vegetarians too although I don't fall into this categorie.

My starter was marinated Feta, olive and sundried tomato salad in a filo basket; my partner had lamb kebabs, baby spinach salad with honey and mint dressing.

Main courses: I had a succulent lamb steak; slow cooked with creme de cassis and juniper berries on garlic cream dauphinoise potatoes.

My partner had confit of duck also with dauphinoise potatoes, which quickly disappeared from the plate followed with a sigh of 'delicious'!

These were accompanied with a dish of nicely presented vegetables.I couldn't resist the sweet menu, choosing homemade chocolate torte with honeycomb drizzled with caramel sauce.

I have to say the best meal I have ever eaten in Birmingham and well worth trying. I will be there next month for their June menu and maybe try one of their music nights.

2 courses cost £18:50 and 3 courses £22.50 a good choice of beers and wines (house wine £11:50 per bottle also sold by the glass).

I heard the people on the next table say ''This is the best thing that's happened to Selly Oak'' and I couldn't agree more.Highly recommended.
