A real gem of a pub. The food is always cooked to perfection and the staff are really polite and helpful. Two thumbs up!

The country girl has re-opened under new management, as we arrived we were greeted at the door by polite waiting staff who showed us to our table and drinks were ordered and arrived very prompt. We were given the menu and shown the specials, I ordered the gammon steak and my partner ordered the fillet steak . After waiting maybe 20 mins our food arrived hot and the chef obviously has no idea when it comes to portion control but all to our advantage, the food was a plenty and cooked to a very high standard - thoroughly enjoyed my meal and a light conversation with the chef at our table after our meal added to a super night ... I will defiantly be returning many times , my only dissapointment is that this place is not closer to my house ;-)

What can I say about this fantastic pub! I went to The Country Girl recently and had a warm friendly reception. My party was seated to a roomy dining area and explained what was on the menu by very pleasant member of staff. I had the lamb shank which was without a doubt the most mouth watering tender lamb I have had in years. The new manager came round to our table and engaged in conversation after our meal which I thought added to the experience. If I had to make any fault, it would be that I thought the drier in the men’s toilet was a bit loud but it certainly dried my hands. All in all I found the environment, staff and food first class and will certainly be booking my Christmas party there. 9/10 - Martin Stephens – Halesowen

First of all I am surprised by the recent comments, I visited the country girl last week as a party of four and I must say we had a very enjoyable experience. We were greeted by a lovely young lady which showed us to our table and explained the menu, I had the creamy mushroom starter and my wife had king prawn starter which were excellent. For the main course I had lamb shank and the meat fell off the bone and my friend had the rib-eye steak which he said he thoroughly enjoyed. My wife had the sticky toffee pudding which we were advised that was homemade which she said was to die for.Upon leaving we were thanked for our custome from all the staff which is not something you get alot of these days. All in all I will be visiting The Country Girl again and will be telling our family and friends, I thought it was good value in nice surroundings with a friendly atmosphere.A big thumbs up!!!!

Went on a Monday my fault ! Arrived was seated in a nice area, menu looked good.Unfortunately it went down hill from there, some wines (Chardonnay) they hadn't got. Ordered fish and Chips to be told five minutes later that they had not had a delivery so all we have left is Saturdays left overs. Then chose the burger and ham egg and chips. Prices are above extortionate and are more reminiscent of London hotel room service prices than an out of the way country pub with stiff competition. The burger was over seasoned and unimaginative and the ham egg & chips was £10.95!!!! left fifty pounds lighter what a waste of money should have gone to the ewe and lamb or even Hopwood service station.

Visted the Country Girl today with great hope that the pub would be as good as it looked from the outside. With four adults and a 7 month old baby we were greeted with a very unwarming welcome we then waited at the reception area for over 10 mins waiting to be seated. We were then advised that there was only one high chair in the whole restaurant. The service in our opinion was very poor and very child unfriendly would not recommend at all. After this experience drove down to the Ewe and Lamb and gave them our £100 and had a great experience.
