Old Tavern reviews

By John D.

Awful pub. No real ale (apologies to the previous reviewer but real ale does NOT come in bottles). No proper food, just junk food. Full of screaming kids and sports screens. Truly hideous.

this pub was sadly very uninviting. myself, my husband and my mum decided to go out for a nice new years day drink to toast the new year but sadly was greeted with children running around, a woman led on the floor and a bar man who hardly stop his conversation to serve us. after ordering our drinks we sat awkwardly counting the seconds til we had finished and could leave. on a plus side the pub was clean and cheap, but that is not enough to make me return.

In all fairness the above was kind of accurate at the time but there has now been a change in management and the atmosphere has changed dramatically. There are real ales albeit in bottles and one on pump but they are there! They have various offers on starting from £2 per pint on various drinks and live bands and karaoke. Give it another go you will be pleasantly surprised! There is no more shouting at people for tapping the pool table the angry people have gone! Give it a go you will enjoy it!

Please don't go by the above, the pub is under new management and the old ones have gone! The old management were a little difficult to say the least at times but there is now a really good atmosphere with real ales and they also have happy dayz where there are drinks from £2.00 per pint. They have weekly entertainment and it has a real local atmosphere which is difficult to find nowadays! Give it another go stuartwwillis you may be pleasantly surprised!

Aan excellent pub with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. great for kids loads for them to do. safe and secure garden with outside screen. Good beer prices, with pies and sausage rolls what more do you want?

Clinical pub, flat screens, sky spots, just stella artois and a few other largers... no ale what so ever. No atmosphere except the occasional students. From my experience myself and a friend went in there and the land lady and land lord stood behind the bar. Not lifting a finger. The only point they did move was to shout at an innocent student for tapping the pool table because his ball was stuck in THIER table. AND to tell them to hurry up with their pool game... despite there being a busy bar with people waiting for drinks. Nasty pub, probably the worst in the fishponds/ bristol area... avoid at all costs... and this was AFTER a refurbishment. NB students avoid this pub also... very angry atmosphere.
