Perfectly situated in the heart of Roath, on the busy Richmond Rd, Varsity is frequented by Cardiff’s ever-growing student population and is also ideal for those visiting or working in the Albany Road shopping district of Roath.
Varsity offers different seating for different moods. For a more intimate experience you can get cosy in a booth or you can chill out on one of the sofas watching the match on the plasmas or on the projector screen. The decor is retro: sumptuous 70s-style wallpaper, brown shagpile carpets and large smoky mirrors. Smokers are provided with a shelter in the courtyard at the back and there is good wheelchair access.

The Last Word
For value for money, Varsity gets full marks. If, however, you’re looking for a traditional pub and a quiet corner this may not be for you. The fact that it’s part of a chain does mean that one Varsity is very much like another. Despite this, you can still pass a very pleasant few hours during the day, reading the papers, using their in-house wi-fi connection and enjoying the great deals on food and drink.
