The Witchery By Castle reviews

My husband and I tried the pre theatre menu here the other week and it was truly delicious. The atmosphere was intimate yet relaxing and the service was outstanding.

Disappointing....disappointing. I'd been here twice before for the special lunch menu and had fantastic meals but the a la carte meal we had in April was average and the service terrible. It was the first time in 10 years I've not left a tip - new waiters, 12 members of staff wandering round not doing anything, difficulty in finding our table even though we were paying £300 a night to stay in one of the hotel rooms and had booked months in advance, rude service from the head waiter, dirty wine glasses, a strange object floating in the wine glass, a dessert served in a small thin glass that we couldn't get our spoon into..... Believe me when they get it right in The Witchery the food and service is fantastic but I felt ripped off with food that didn't inspire and service way below that expected when you are paying £150 for 2 people....we got the impression that they didn't care anymore as people would pay just to go to 'The Witchery'.....when we checked out the next morning and complained we got a shrug of the shoulders and the member of staff couldn't even be bothered to ask if we needed a taxi to the station..... It's interesting that after staying in the hotel and dining in the restaurant we were sent an online survey to complete - even after voicing our complaints we heard nothing further - customer service is obviously not high on their agenda.....
