As a regular of Wetherspoons on the Vale, I was pleasantly surprised on a recent visit to the Farmers, so much so that I havent been back to Wethys. The Farmers underwent a ferurb approximately 12 months ago, and it looks as though the clientele also received a ferurb. All the kids have now decamped to Hargreaves and there is now a more discerning punter who frequents the Farmers. No problems getting a seat or table if eating as opposed to Wethys where you have to hover around waiting for a booth to become vacant and then wait a while for the table to be cleared. Food was of a good quality with a varied choice and staff were very helpful. The price of the drinks also compared favourably to Wethys with the Farmers house wines arounsd £7.00 a bottle and a few guest beers. Black sheep, Cains etc. All in all if you usually go to Wethys, give the Farmers try like we did you may be pleasantly surprised.
