Have a magical Christmas at Kew this year as the botanic gardens are full of wonderful Christmas activities, events and special one offs. With visits from Father Christmas, an illuminated trail in the dark and a chance to go on a guided winter walk amongst all the beautiful plants, Christmas at Kew Gardens is sure to be a spectacular time. Christmas at Kew In the lead up to Christmas you can take a one mile illuminated walk around a magical interactive landscape of surprises, with light, sound and performances taking place for all ages to enjoy. The gardens will be sparkling with festive decorations, and Santa will be in residence in his enchanted woodland grotto. Kids Christmas events Throughout Christmas at Kew kids can take part in some delightful entertainment and arts and crafts activities at the wonderful Kew Gardens. There's seasonal face painting and there's also an enchanting carousel ride on Kew Palace lawn. Santa's grotto For those that love Santa's grottos at Christmas, there is a chance to see the big man himself at Kew, with Father Christmas setting up residence in the Princess of Wales conservatory. This year, the festive grotto is open at night. The event runs from 5pm – 9pm and and costs £4.00 per child and is available daily from Thursday 27th November 2014 – Saturday 3rd January 2015. Christmas trail Brand new for 2014 this special sparkling Christmas trail features roasting chestnuts, toasting marshmallows, and other traditional fayre, as you find your way around the Kew Gardens site. A Victorian carousel, family rides and outdoor adventure playground provide fun for the little ones, and of course, no visit to Kew would be complete without a visit to Santa in his Snowflake Grotto. A tropical Christmas If all the cold and dreary weather is getting you down this winter, you can enjoy a tropical Christmas at Kew Gardens by paying a visit to the spectacular glasshouses. From the steamy Palm House to the warm Temperate House, there's plenty of exotic sights to see, so visit the gardens and experience the delights this exceptional venue has to offer.
