Make sure you head to the Fashion Rules exhibition at Kensington Palace for an exciting trip down memory lane, as iconic dresses and clothing worn by Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana will be on display for you to marvel at. Leading ladies Today Kate Middleton enjoys a well deserved reputation as a fashion icon, and anything and everything she wears influences women the world over. However, fashion and royalty have always been closely associated and plenty of key figures of the Royal Family have been integral to the development of trends within their respective eras, so head to the Fashion Rules exhibition at Kensington Palace to see a number of iconic dresses in all their glory, on display at the famous London landmark. Fashion Rules exhibition at Kensington Palace At Kensington Palace, you can expect to see a plethora of Royal clothing from a forty year period, spanning plenty of trends and unique styles. A priceless collection of garments from the wardrobes of Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Princess Diana will be on show, so fashionistas unite, and make your way to Kensington Palace. The Queen Beginning with a look at Queen Elizabeth II during the 1950s, the Fashion Rules exhibition at Kensington Palace looks at how she adapted her style over the decade whilst incorporating trends and turning them into her own. A silk Norman Hartnell gown of the early 50s will be on display for the first time in 15 years as will as a later Hartnell dress, which included the colours of the Pakistani flag, a tribute to the country where it was premiered. Changing times Many clothes from Princess Margaret’s wardrobe from the 1960s and 70s will be out in full force including a one-off Dior gown that was worn for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. Margaret’s clothing was much less restrained than her older sister’s, and this is perhaps best reflected in a full length silk kaftan, which represents some of her less formal wear. Style icon Out of the three, Princess Diana was arguably the greatest style icon of all and as such, her 1980s styled wardrobe will be explored in depth at the Fashion Rules exhibition. Known for her big shoulder pads and bold colours, Diana inspired a generation of women and much like Kate Middleton today, she closely watched by the press, meaning that she often looked her best all of the time, especially when she wore such items as a sparkling midnight blue and purple Jacques Azagury dress, the likes of which will be on display at Kensington Palace. The Fashion Rules exhibition at Kensington Palace takes place from 10am - 6pm, Thursday 4th July until Summer 2015. Admission is included when you purchase tickets to Kensington Palace. These cost £15.00 for adults and children under 16 go free. Club to Catwalk Exhibition London Paul Klee Exhibition at Tate Modern London Fashion Week at Selfridges Uniform Wares at Design Festival
