Event Information

For a few days only, The London Art Biennale exhibition is welcoming visitors to indulge in contemporary art from across the world.

London is one of the global hotspots for contemporary art, therefore it is no surprise that exotic exhibitions find themselves at home in the capital. The London Art Biennale is among the latest of these new exhibitions to crop up and for a few days only, visitors can indulge in contemporary art from across the world. Thought provoking The London Art Biennale is a museum quality exhibition that aims to make its visitors think. With over 130 artists from all over the globe specially selected to be involved in the exhibition, it’s hard not to draw comparisons between the different beliefs and cultures that express themselves in these pieces. Highlights Those who visit the London Art Biennale exhibition will be lucky enough to see artwork ranging from China to Brazil and from America and Iran. Highlights include prominent painters such as Agita Keiri, a Latvian artist selected for the BP Award from the National Portrait Gallery, and the impressive work from the five year old Australian child prodigy, Aelita Andre. Contemporary clash It’s not only a clash of cultures taking place among the artwork at this exhibition, as the setting for it is held in the wonderfully ornate Chelsea Old Town Hall. With its vaulted ceiling and brass chandeliers, it’s a complete contrast to the contemporary art on display and enables visitors to admire Victorian architecture alongside the creative expression of the modern world. Charity auction Although entry to the London Art Biennale is free of charge, there will be an auction during the show of various artworks, including a unique piece by Jose Dali. All money raised from this auction will be given to the End Polio charity and the Salvation Army, so why not take a charming piece of art home with you after you’ve finished admiring the collection. The London Art Biennale takes place at Chelsea Old Town Hall from Wednesday 23rd January – Saturday 26th January 2013. The exhibition opens Wednesday at 6pm and on Thursday - Saturday from 11am – 6pm. Admission is free.
