Take a trip down the rabbit hole and try the Mad Hatters afternoon tea at Sanderson for an unusual culinary experience that keeps on getting curiouser and curiouser. Eat me Featuring a variety of surreal and interesting delicacies, such as a green tea and white chocolate mousse served in a tea cup, this Alice in Wonderland inspired tea is for those who love to play with their food. Other highlights of the quirky Mad Hatters afternoon tea at Sanderson include a vintage book and linen napkins wrapped with a riddle, as well a magical music box that holds the sugar and that sings Somewhere Over the Rainbow when opened. Colourful crockery In keeping with the eccentric theme, all the crockery at the Mad Hatters afternoon tea at Sanderson has been handmade especially for this occasion and has been painted with fantastical images. The plates are decorated with kings and queens, and the plates feature a menagerie of zebras, birdcages, clocks and carousels. The dainty sandwiches on offer are made with homemade bread with elegant fillings such as the smoked salmon with Cumbrian ham and wholegrain mustard on sun dried tomato bread, or cucumber and chive cream cheese on green spinach bread. Fairytale tea No tea would be complete without a selection of cakes and sweet treats, and the Mad Hatters afternoon tea comes complete with marshmallow mushrooms, a carrot meringue served on a bed of pea shoots as well as a traditional Victoria Sponge clock and melting mango cheesecake with rainbow patterned white chocolate. Guest will also have the exciting opportunity to indulge in the Jelly Wonderland and try some delicious fruit jellies made in Victorian jelly moulds and presented on a cake trolly. Indulgent cocktails A selection of cocktails has been created for this unique occasion and includes a pear and Elderflower Bellini and a scarlet Martini with Wyborowa vodka shaken with strawberries, cucumber and honey. This innovative and eccentric tea makes for a great experience that is only enhanced by the ambience of the Courtyard Garden with its oasis of flora, stunning mosaics and ethereal fountains. The Mad Hatters afternoon tea at Sanderson is available daily from 12.30 - 5.30pm and is ongoing.
