This year sees the 14th summer pavilion at Serpentine Gallery open to the public at the renowned Kensington Gardens gallery, with a design created and installed by award winning Chilean architect, Smiljan Radic. Summer pavilion at Serpentine Gallery Following a decade of stunning architectural designs and installations, the Serpentine Gallery are hosting yet another innovative and no doubt popular work for the summer of 2014. With the aim of helping visitors explore the history of the Summer Pavilion scheme, with its roots in his earlier designs like the Castle of the Selfish Giant, inspired by the Oscar Wilde story and the Restaurant Mestizo - part of which is supported by large boulders. Contemplative space The structure is a semi-translucent, cylindrical structure that resembles a shell and rests on large quarry stones. It occupies 350 square metres of the Serpentine’s lawn, and a small cafe will be housed inside it for those seeking a little calm in the centre of the city. The Smiljan Radic summer pavilion at Serpentine Gallery takes place from Thursday 26th June - Sunday 19th October 2014. Entrance is free.
