Abokado reviews

By Juliana C.

Abokado’s philosophy on food is freshness, boldness of flavour, and health. This hip and health-conscious eatery definitely sticks to its motto and delivers quick, tasty, inexpensive, and healthy food. And as if that wasn't enough, they also give any unsold food to charity.

The Venue
The design is clean, modern and comfortable. Large floral lights hang from the ceilings, whilst bright red fixtures decorate the window areas. Walls are coloured in bold, apple green, brown, red, and off white, and in the main dining area you can either sit at one of the smaller black wooden tables or get comfy on one of the soft, leather sofas.

The Atmosphere
Staff are personable, efficient and helpful. The clientele is a mixture of business people on their lunch break, tourists, locals, and just about anyone looking for a quick, healthy, and delicious meal.

The Food
Abokado has options for any meal you might be looking for. Choose from breakfasts, deli wraps, sushi, soups, stir fries, salads, smoothies and cakes. Vegetable dumpling noodles (£4.99) is a delicious and satisfying soup of miso and vegetable broth, carrots, spring onion, bean sprouts, pak choi, vegetable dumplings and udon noodles. It also comes with a side of sweet and savoury teriyaki sauce for dipping. At only 280 calories, this generous portion of hearty soup has everything you ever looked for in a soup, and is super healthy.

Aromatic duck stir fry (£4.49) comprises shredded duck in a thick, rich, hoisin sauce with bean sprouts, peppers, carrots and other fresh vegetables all mixed together with egg noodles. The falafel and coriander wrap (£1.49) is slightly spicy with hummus, cucumber, tomato and greens wrapped up in a hand-rolled flour tortilla wrap. Another great option is the mature cheddar and red onion chutney wrap (£1.39) that combines sharp cheddar and sweet red onion chutney with tomato, lettuce, mayonnaise and greens. All wraps come in a mix and match single size which is great if you can’t decide on just one.

The Drink
Choose from freshly squeezed juices or thick, made to order, smoothies. If you are looking for something hot, why not energize with a delicious cappuccino, macchiato, or mocha? All are made with fairtrade organic coffee beans.

Last Word
At Abokado you will always be satisfied but never feel guilty. Stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and rediscover the healthier side of dining out.
