Ali Baba reviews

Ali Baba can mean a cheap evening out as you can bring your own alcohol! The food is very tasty and there's an outside area for the summer.

Ali Baba is a good bet for some tasty food and a fun evening.

From a country that's renowned for its beautiful architecture, Ali Baba’s Egyptian restaurant is pretty scruffy (maybe they haven’t decorated since the pyramids were built?) Still, they show Arabic TV in the corner, so I guess it must be authentic. The food was ok, but Ali Baba doesn’t serve booze – there is an off licence nearby though.

It was late, I was hungry and I thought it couldn't be too bad. I was very wrong!! Stale food, grubby dining area and staff who were amazingly rude (don't think it was just me as they seemed to give the other (few) customers there the same treatment!). Portions were thankfully very mean and poor value for money as I was unable to force myself to finish them. Next time I will keep walking another 100metres down the road to Mumtaz where they do an excellent take away and are always smiley and welcoming.

Best avoided. Greasy, small portions of uninspired generic "middle eastern". We think the staff were the rudest we have yet experienced in London, which is saying something!! We've subsequently been to a variety of restaurants and cafes on nearby Edgeware Road, all of which have been hugely better.

Ali Baba is one of a kind. The food's great, with a selection of real Egyptian dishes such as koshari, bamia, molokhia. I will definitely be going back to Ali Baba.

I found Ali Baba to be an amazing experience, I recently had my birthday there with friends. The food was great, they served very nice mezze and gave us a selection of main courses. They do not have alcohol at Ali Baba but don't mind people bringing their own. I would strongly recommend it to my friends.
