I went to this bar on Saturday night. I had a prepaid voucher for a teaparty and we were all looking forward to a fun night. I had booked the event nearly a month in advance, and cannot fault the professionalism or friendliness when arranging a booking by email (a lovely lady called Kim)
However, on the night, there were no trains running to the area, so we were delayed. I rang in advance to inform the staff that due to transport, we would be approximately 20 minutes late. We arrived after 40 minutes, as traffic was terrible. We were told that our table had been given away, I apologised and explained that we'd had problems getting there, and I'd previously called to notify of our lateness. However, I was then aggressively snapped at and told that I was later than I should have been.
He went off to find a table, and eventually brought us a wet table ( I can only assume it had been brought in from the smoking area) and 4 wet chairs. We weren’t offered tissue, another member of staff kindly dried 2 of the chairs. We were given our cupcakes and asked what our cocktail of choice was, when I asked what our options were, he walked off, slammed a menu on the table and didn’t return for over 15 minutes. I eventually went to the bar and ordered from another member of staff. A further 10 minutes later, our drinks hadn’t arrived, so I went to the bar to find the glasses and cocktail just sat their unattended. The cocktail teapot which consisted of 60% ice, 39% juice and 1% alcohol, which was probably watered down.
The rest of the bar seemed to be treated appropriately, however there were many tabs being set up, and that’s probably why the staff were being so friendly to them. I am disgusted with the way that we were treated by this particular member of staff, and can safely say that I will never return to this bar. I appreciate that we were late, but that was out of our control. It’s such a shame that 1 barman could ruin a potentially good night.
