Am laughing and very drunk!

Theo and his braces were super! Fab, funny and highly alcoholic! Theo was very sweet and his cocktails even more so! Had a brilliant masterclass with lots of laughs and shots, as you would expect from all great masterclasses! Highly recommend, great atmosphere and funny staff! :-)

I popped into Canvas Bar tonight. They had a great selection of whiskeys and the bar man was really knowledgeble suggesting new whiskeys to try.

I was in the area with a few friends without the intention of having a night out last Saturday. Naomi, one of the bars promotors was outside and handed us a leaflet which gave a free shot per drink. We asked what kind of music it was and she said commercial and r&b so we went in and had an absolute blast! It was a nice positive vibe, great music and really fun! When we left we had a quick chat with Naomi and thanked her for the recommendation - she was super friendly. The manager was also outside and he recommended us a few nightclubs to go to after which was also really nice. I will definitely be going back!

this bar sums up all this is wrong with east london for me- it tries to label itself a cutting edge arty and unique bar with very little genuine understanding of the things that constitute customer service/industry/concept at all. After visiting a few weekends ago and reading some of the reviews on here i have to say i completely agree that staff are too self absorbed and arrogant to provide a genuine or friendly experience for guests as a number one priority. Cocktails were average in comparison to a lot of other places nearby in the area, and with such tacky names as "strawberry painkiller" and"sugar daddy" i couldn't help but feel like i was in probably the most try-hard bar in shoreditch and didn't feel much like sticking around... on a positive note the artwork exhibited was genuinely nice and i think the support for local artists is great. BUT after experiencing canvas in full, i cant help but think this might have been a decision more to gain shoreditch cool points than any real interest/ knowledge/ conscience in support of local artistry. I would say in short, this bar panders around it's pretentious concept- one that doesn't feel quite genuine and consistent. Canvas would be better spending its time revising what basic hospitality means and re-learning its stuff in order to provide more than mediocre experiences for customers- at the moment it definitely suffers from a bad ratio of concept / content.

I first went to Canvas bar on my birthday a few weeks ago and it exceeded my expectations so i've been back there a couple more times since. The staff are so friendly and fun. We were served by a filipino guy who gave amazing service (with a great smile!). He was flipping cups and ice cubes into the air and made the most perfect cocktails- the cream and fruit shots were on point! It was such an entertaining night I had to bring more friends there. I would definitely recommend this place 10/10!

The bar staff and atmosphere are what sets this place apart from all other bars. From the offset, very accommodating, great knowledge on drinks (I've now been educated on the history of tequila, but not so much that I'm board) amazing the fact it's so close to the station. And a chilled vibe as you enter. The bar staff are not arrogant dicks, down to earth sound people. Quite simply great place, good tone, music's pretty good too. Tonight it's kinda a Latino, 50's dancey remix vibe.

Canvas has now become my new favourite place to just relax and have a great cocktail after a long days work from the office. Staff are very friendly (special mentions to the tall asian guy and the girl bartender). The presentation of the cocktails is to perfection. Glad this place has opened up and soon im sure will attract many customers.

Would be a nice place to chill but the service is the most terrible I have ever seen. Been couple of times to give another try as I work around but all was disappointing. Bar staff is far away from understanding what is the difference between entertaining a costumer and entertaining themselves with forgetting they are serving. By 8pm every bar tender is way to drunk to even speak, if you want to order you will have to beg them to pay any attention to you ...All those times sadly left far more sober rather staff.

Absolutely terrible. Me and my friend went to to meet a group of friends for drinks for her birthday. We got there first and my friend really had to pee so she said hello to the (I think french) bartender and headed straight towards the bathroom as I approached the bar and him, to order drinks. He very rudely and aggressively told her the bathroom was for paying customers only and that before she goes to the bathroom she "maybe needs to say hi". Without hesitation my friend apologised and said she had said "hi", and that he must not have heard her, he turned his back to her with a "tsk" not even acknowledging that I had also greeted him and that I was clearly looking around for my friends as I approached the bar. I was so angry and shocked that I told my friend he was too rude to even bother, we then told our friends to meet us somewhere else. I seriously hope not all staff members are as rude, his attitude was shocking. I never leave written reviews but this warranted it. Do not give this place your money. And to the management team: do not hire people that are rude to paying customers.

I love this place. Exposed brick, gorgeous lighting, with my great music. The atmosphere is perfect for kicking back drinks with mates and the drink selection is seemingly endless.

I celebrated my birthday at Canvas on Friday and we loved every minute. The cocktails are outstanding, my favourite is the Wild Angel. I bought a voucher through Yplan and loved my experience and decided to plan my party there the following week. Couldn't praise the staff higher! Excellent service, highly recommended.

Terrible bar - extortionate prices which are made worse by the enforced table service which allows them to add a 12.5% tip to the bill. Didn't even get the drinks right and when I complained and asked for what I had ordered I watched the barmaids moaning about me mocking me whole they exaggeratedly changed the drink. Every staff member we spoke to was insanely rude, and I won't waste my time or money coming here ever again.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your feedback and we are very sorry to hear about your experience. We have been informed by the venue management that they have contacted you directly and this issue has been resolved.

The 12.5% standard service charge isn't compulsory and therefore you are not obligated to pay it. We are sorry if this was not explained properly to you by our waitress or on the receipt. We sincerely hope that this did not effect your overall experience and hope to welcome you back to Canvas in the near future.

Kind regards,

Being the macho kind of man I am I'm normally a beer drinker but the cocktails here were so great I kind of let that slip! There's a real range of great cocktails including classics and some more fancy ones as well. My personal favourite was the Peanut Colada. A huge dollop of peanut butter in a glass with some other goodies. Really sweet but so good! Other than the drinks it's really nice and relaxed in there. The DJ was playing some upbeat housey kind of music and the decor in the bar is really unique. Noticed fire hydrants and petrol pumps converted into furniture fixings and barrel tops for tables. Overall a very pleasant experience and will be popping in here after work on a regular basis!

Impressive cocktails, friendly staff and really good music...and all within 1 minute from Old Street tube (great if you love wearing heels like me!) It' decor is interesting and eclectic and is far more appealing to me then the soulless wine-bars and clubs of the West End. I was surprised to find this gem as it was a truly hideous pub/boozer before this reincarnation. Security were more than approachable even if they looked serious, and the hostess gave us a table (even though we hadn't pre-booked). A waitress introduced herself and gave us table service all night - which was great as the bar looked very busy. We stayed longer because of the DJ and the diverse music - ranging from current house and electro dance music to nostalgic hits like good old Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder - which along with the fabulous cocktails helped most to their feet to dance the night away. Definitely a place to meet friends and start the night off (and even finish the night off their!) Brilliant ambiance and atmosphere. Is what is says on the label - Arty Cocktail bar!

Great new addition to Shoreditch, right next to Old street tube. Fabulous cocktails, really well balanced and beautifully presented (and very strong!) friendly bar staff. Loved the monsters artwork in the corner although heard this would regularly be changing. Well worth a trip.

A breath of fresh air! My girlfriends and I went to the launch party on Friday and loved the entire venue! It's very arty and the cocktails are delicious! We particularly liked Jimmy Choose and Canvas Fizz. It's a great location and we can't wait to go back.

A truly pretentious bar. An ice maiden on the door with security bar you would think you where going into an exclusive venue frequented by stars and high society. Only know establishment of that standard would hire either of these people. Ones inside the bar staff are so busy looking pleased with themselves in the bowler hats they barely look up. When we did get served they had no slimline tonic , a good venue would of sent out for it as Sainsbury's is not far. But there was no apology or explination . We had two drinks and watched as the bar staff cut up leaves and chatted and laughed . The atmosphere was shocking the art well whats the pint if the venue has zero service and the whole places looked as it had been thrown up on the cheap, No mirror in the mens bathroom and they looked like schools toilets with a few candles thrown in. Really avoid
