Danson Stables reviews

By Alison B.

Im only giving one star as I can't work out how to give none. Lovely building in great surroundings but the food and service is the absolutely disgusting. I complained via the Stonegate website about the fact that although our food was inedible we were told that 'they don't give refunds' and received no reply. I then tried again and have still had not even a standard email saying they had received my complaint. Awful customer service, inedible food and children and dogs running about, Avoid.

I felt I had to write a review on this 'restaurant'. We experienced extremely poor service and tasteless food. We were shown to our table but then nobody appeared for over half an hour to take our order. We were told there weren't any children's menus but that they would write it down for us so we could all order together. This never happened. Half the items we had chosen from the menu weren't available (the table had been booked for 5pm on a Saturday afternoon so how come they had already run out of food?). We waited almost an hour for our starter and over an hour for our main meal, which we had to chase up (the children's order wasn't correct but as we'd waited so long and they were so hungry we 'put up with it!' but when the adults meals arrived the monk fish looked unappetizing and was completely tasteless. Other tables were served before us who had arrived after us, another table left because their food order had taken so long and another table sent their tasteless food back! This was meant to be a birthday celebration - it was the worse evening out in a restaurant that I'd ever experienced and the birthday is going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled to after reading some of the negatives on here. I attended a surprise 70th meal today where there were 18 of us. I heard nothing but compliments about the food and my own dish (the Sea Bass) was yummy to say in the least. The Staff were extremely patient and very helpful. Yes there were kids running about (we had 2 in our party ) but considering the location this is to be expected. We stayed for drinks and chats after our meal and we were still welcomed and did not feel in anyone's way. Would recommend this pub to anyone.

Went to the Stables for lunch on Saturday and had a great time. They've just had a refurb so the place looks really nice. It was busy but we were greeted and sat down quickly. Had to order at the bar but after we'd done that the waitress got everything else for us. The food was great, we had fish + chips and lamb shank and we couldn't finish either of them. Definitely a place worth visiting.

Seriously? I never ever comment on anything holidays, restaurants etc but after such a terrible time yesterday I was searching for an email address to complain and come across this and feel its my duty to inform anyone considering going to avoid! Really was a disgusting service. There are always big ques in there anyway as they dont do table service, so as per that was bad. But then my daughters pasta come up stone cold and rubbery so I complained and the waitress apologised and said she would get a new one, but was back within a minute with the exact same dish, as the rubbery pasta was not going to be easily moved and disguised, and had obviously just been put in a microwave. Then my fiance's dessert of treacle tart come out with what should have been ice cream as on the menu but it has a really sour taste so we asked the waitress and she tried it and said it was creme fresh! So she took it away and they didn't even attempt to even take the creme fresh off they just put a scoop of ice cream on the plate! The lady on the table next to us was infront of me in the que and ordered her food, when she was told it would be 45 minutes wait she asked for her childs ice cream to come out before that then and they said this was not possible! So then when their food come out 45 mins later and no ice cream they asked where it was and was told it would be another 15 mins! What type of place is this! I told my friend today who's mum used to work there and she said to me that her mum always told her to never come down and eat as she knows the standard of the food! Food is cheap but does reflect in the quality, I would rather pay more.
