I eat out all the time and this is by far the worst customer service I’ve experienced in a restaurant/cafe in London. I’ve ordered a pan fried fillet of salmon. It looked like it was cooked to perfection until I put my knife through the fish. It was very raw in the middle so I informed the waiter. He said he’ll bring me a new dish with a properly cooked salmon this time so I waited while enjoying to a nice glass of wine. Then when the dish arrived the second time, I’ve realised it was undercooked again (but a bit less raw than the first time). I took the top layer out and then told another waitress “i’m sorry but this is undercooked again. You don’t have to bring me a new dish. Just use the same fish. Look, I took the top layer out (the cooked part) so just if the chef could cook the raw part in a pan for a couple of more minutes, that would be really great- thanks”. The waitress agrees it is undercooked and takes the dish always. I am happily waiting and then after about 5 minutes, the manager approaches me and says “well, this is our standard way of cooking. The fish was not raw at all when I checked both of the dishes so maybe it is just you who likes to eat it in a specific way”. I was so shocked when the manager said that. Hello? I didn’t go to have sushi, I have ordered a pan fried fillet of salmon. I had a pan fried fish in many different restaurants and not ever did I ever send a dish back because it was undercooked. My god, I thought the manager actually approached me to apologise. Even my friend saw how raw the fish was. I could not believe he blamed it on me and refused to cook the fish a little bit more for me. I’ve been a pescetarian all my life so I know what a cooked or an uncooked fish looks like. My god, even a non-pescetarian will know that! How dare the manager refuse to cook the fish a little bit more for me, deny it was undercooked and only approach to blame it on the customer?
