The menu changes regularly depending on the season and includes starters such as soup of the day priced at £4.95, and pan seared Atlantic scallops on chorizo and quinoa salad with salsa verde at £8.95. The house smoked salmon on chargrilled sourdough can be ordered for £6.50 for a small portion or for those with a larger appetite it comes as a bigger portion for £12.95.
The knowledgeable staff recommend the steak, which is seems to be a popular option, and is served with a choice of seven sauces, including garlic butter and green peppercorn and a side for £18.50.
If you still have room for pudding, it is advisable to sample the dessert menu, as Island Grill offers a good range of carefully crafted desserts that will satisfy even the sweetest of teeth. Their speciality Honey Panna Cotta (£5.00) is made from the hotel’s own honey from the bees, which are kept in hives on the rooftop of Lancaster London.
