Jai Shri Krishna reviews

I went to Jai Shri Krishna because I was interested in trying vegetarian Indian food. It was incredible, one of the best indian restaurants I have ever been to. For my main course I had the Avial, it was simply delicious, so flavorsome packed with vegetables, coconut and yoghurt, mustard seeds and fresh curry leaves. The stuffed Paratha was delicious as well. And the poppadoms are homemade unlike most run of the mill indian restaurants. It is very inexpensive, most main courses costing around £3.25 and appetizers and sides being very reasonably priced. The gentleman taking my order was very friendly, I told him it was my first time trying vegetarian Indian food and he made some good recommendations. It has a cosy and warm atmosphere and whilst the decor isn't particularly modern I think this is part of it's charm. I will definitely be going back and would recommend to friends, even to meat eaters as the food is simply delicious. All in all delightful.

Jai Shri Krishna is a cheap vegetarian hotel (that actually sums it up) Pros: 1. single digit rates for most dishes 2. average quality vegetarian food Cons: 1. Absolutely zero service (you have to write your own orders) 2. Some south-indian dishes may be disgusting and indigestible. (I had an upset stomach once coz I asked for a Dosa) 3. Dingy and dirty interiors (better not to visit the toilet before you have had your meal) 4. Very slow service and you may spend a good 2 hours (no exaggerations here) for a simple meal 5. You may find defrosted food served to you (i.e we could tell that the samosas and roti's were straight off the frozen food section from ASDA) 6. The owner will give you a piece of his mind if he's in a bad mood, if you ask for an additional plate or write down your order in a different format to what he expects 7. They sometimes miss orders and ask you to manage with something else instead (that was a first for me. lol) We were disappointed the first time; were stupid enough to give him a chance and went back again. This time we ended up having a full on confrontation (all because one of the dishes had too much salt in it - we weren't even asking him to take it back) and i nearly lost it. WE ARE NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. We found a better, classy and respectable hotel on the same street "Jashn" - we're regulars there now.

I was first introduced to Jai Shri Krishna by a vegetarian friend of mine almost 2 years ago and have been going back ever since. Even ardet meat eating friends were very impressed indeed by the delicious and varied food on offer there. Add to that a very reasonably priced menu and a very friendly atmosphere, I give this place 5 stars and would recommend it to anybody.

I went here today for the first time The food is lovely and so cheap! Between 12-2pm their thali is half price- so for £3.50, you will get two types of curry, rice, tarka dhal, salad papadoms, mango chutney, nan bread, yoghurt and a sweet The venue is very new and very clean with friendly staff. I highly recommend this restaurant for a cheap, fresh, well cooked vegetarian food.
