KOKO reviews

I Have to say Koko is one of tnhe best nights out in London. Friday nights are a good night to dance your socks off untill 4am, the live music and DJs are great and the hip hop room is relaxed and fun. The drinks at Koko are not expensive, one pound a shot, and other drinks normal prices. Entry is cheap too.

The atmosphere is gig like, so if you enjoy that, then your at the right place. Saturday nights are ok, but I definitely prefer fridays. The people are very fashionable and you may find some pretentious twits, but if you go with your mates you'll be sure to have a wicked time.

KoKo is terrible, a place I will never return to. The drinks are watered down and stupidly expensive and the general feel of the club is uptight and pretensious. The bouncers and staff are young and ridiculously arrogant. If you want to have a good night don't go to KoKo.

I went to KoKo at a Breakin Science rave! It was the best I've been to so far. I've been to most clubs round London but KoKo is definitely my favourite, plenty of room to chill and dance and a really good atmosphere! Excellant venue!

KoKo has the potential to be such a great place but unfortunately is let down by a few things (but mainly the security staff in my opinion). My advice is to stay away from KoKo.

KOKO has great decor but it is spoilt completely by the appalling facilities. The giant glitter ball seems to take up the space where the air conditioning should be and there is only a certain amount of time you can dance for without passing out from heat exhaustion. The profuse sweating doesn't really help those on the pull! KOKO would be alright if you could rehydrate yourself but with only a couple of toilets on each floor you daren't take on any liquid. A real shame because KOKO have had some fantastic bands playing.

Koko opened the Friday after we moved to Mornington Cresent. We thought: 'Great, Camden Palace is back with a vengeance, but better!' How wrong could we be?

Over the last few months it has seriously deteriorated as they have to keep changing the nights to try and make it work. The music is terrible, drinks are bad and there is no atmosphere. Tried it again last Friday and ended up going over the road to dance the night away, at home! We have a bet that it won't last 6 months-the end is nigh.

Love the KOKO , had an epic night here! The music was amazing only down side the drinks prices and options!

Went there when it used to be Camden Palace, now Koko it still Offers the most intimate and relaxing place to see live music. The drinks are still well overpriced but you get wjhat you pay for In venues like this.

KOKO's not my favourite for gigs, but for club nights I love coming here. Annie Mac Presents is always fun when they hold it here. And you can't beat the fun of partying in such an iconic Camden venue.

Koko was everything I was expecting.... unpretentious, fun, and rowdy. Just my kind of saturday night.
Fine, it was a nightmare to get in - I felt almost as if I were being Police checked - but I'd say it was worth it.
The staff were polite and courteous, the crowd were not troublemakers, just groups of friends out for a good night.
The music was not what I was expecting and was the only reason my friends and I left before closing (mindless house can lead to a continuous headache)
However, I would return, maybe even soon.
Result - A good place to have a fantastic time with friends.

Fab Night!! Buttoned Down Disco @ KOKO

Went to Buttoned Down Disco @ KOKO start of August. Amazing mix of eclectic music, great crowd/atmosphere (LGBTQ friendly!). Balloons, glitter cannons and a dramatic looking venue it's an ex-theatre so very unique night out. Highly recommended!

KOKO isn’t my favourite for gigs but for clubnights it’s the one! Better than most London clubs, drinks are reasonable prices and best of all you don’t get loads of West End idiots!

I love KOKO! Red Stripe? YES! Annie Mac? YES! Definitely going back for Jag Skills next time he's back! BIG UP KOKO!

By Sooty T.

I saw Tyler the Creator at KOKO in August and he tore the roof down! Camden went nuts! If you do go here it’s all about being on the main floor though, the atmosphere is different when you’re up in the galleries.

KOKO is the dog’s danglers! Frantic smashed it again as always! Such a good venue for a rave! Much better than a standard club! I <3 <3 <3 KOKO! xx

If you are going to do Koko then do a Friday, the same music as a Saturday but this is what you get.......Cheaper entry! Cheaper drinks! Better people!!

Smelly, horrible, dirty. That was the state I ended up in after spending my time in the mosh pit at Koko! Love KOKO

By Apple B.

I came to KOKO to see a band the other week and love that they do cheaper drinks if you arrive earlier so can get a few to last the night out! Also the band were awesome and the atmosphere amazing!

KOKO is an amazing venue in Camden! I used to know it as the camden palace….yeah i know its been awhile but love the refurb they’ve done makes it look so much more plush and the sound system seems better as well.

Love the KOKO as a venue to see bands, i saw Bad Religion here last month and it was an epic night! The crowd and sound was immense, good night was had!

I came to see Yellowcard here at the beginning of the year, i had never been to the KOKO before but its a lush venue and love the balcony up top where you can watch or you can go down and get in the ruff of it! guess where is was...in the ruff of it and i have a cracking night.

Ive only ever been to the KOKO to see live bands, and have always had a good time! The drinks prices are a bit high but its what expect from a club! The sounds always been pretty banging!

By Geof F.

Ive been coming to the KOKO for years to see various bands & DJs, always have a good time and the sounds always pretty good

By Prunela A.

I came to the KOKO to see the Skints at the beginning of the year, i mainly came here to see the band as seen them many times before but loved they had moved up to a bigger venue and the KOKO was an awesome venue! The sounds was good however the drinks were a bit pricey but its a club its kinda what you expect.

Just been for my first ever visit to Koko, as a live music venue it ticks all the boxes. awsome sound system, great views but expensive drinks which is the same as them all

By Andy C.

Koko - The venue is amazing, the live music is so good but my hint to all you peeps is to drink before you get there and do not turn up as a group of fellas!!

By Harry K.

Went to Koko to see a few unknown hip hop bands live and officially Britain has talent!! They were unbelivable!! The place is so good for live music and we will deffo be back

By Percy M.

Koko for me is the best venue for live music eclipsing the ofereings from Brixton, the accoustics are spot on and the staff are great

By Max K.

Been going to KOKO for years, and I've never had a bad night. Cracking line ups, especially for live music, and possibly the best place in Camden if you're looking for a big night out.

By Si J.

Unbelievably awful sound. I went to see Wilko Johnson on Wednesday, sadly for the last time, as he has terminal cancer. The bass drum made the floor vibrate, couldn`t hear the notes from Norm`s bass, couldn`t hear Wilko`s singing, left with a headache and a great sense of disappointment. They should give the sound man a job that suits his ability, such as cleaning the toilets, and get someone behind the desk who actually knows what he`s doing.

We went today to see Sissy and the Blisters and I have been before. On both occasions the music was so loud that it is definitely damaging your hearing (used an Iphone App out of curiosity and measured 95 decibel with peaks in the 100s). It's not only too loud, the sound is also muffled and bands just sound terrible. A thing you may want to take into consideration when you want to see your favourite band The toilets are minging and the drinks are far too expensive - £4.50 for a small bottle of beer/£4 for a can (pretty much festival prices). The band was not on until 1pm and we had to listen to some crappy DJ pretty much putting on his playlist of songs. Over all I would not recommend this place!

By Emma T.

Massive venue, can see why KOKO would be great if a band was playing. Nice roof terrace. Mostly rubbish music - way too loud, can't hear a thing. Would not recommend! Especially to anyone who likes to socialise or have at least one decent conversation. Drinks are pricey too, £5 for a glass of wine and £4.50 for a can of lager! All drinks served in plastic cups. However, If you are going, make sure you make it in time for free entry. As £10 is a heavy price to pay for a bad night.

By Kristen S.

The venue is unique but none of the card machines were working so it was "cash only" and wouldn't let you back in if you had to leave for the ATM. At the end of the night I tried to get my coat but couldn't find ticket and they wouldn't help at all. I left my name and number but never got a call and after finding the ticket and emailing & calling lost property they still can't seem to locate it but get the impression they won't bother. Extremely unhelpful staff.

Exactly. I have just came back from an expected wonderful Go team gig, but when i went to get my stuffs back, the "so-called cloakroom supervisor" decided to behaviour like a "3 year-old-spoiled-child" with no manners, being utterly unprofessional and rude. That was because at the beginning of night he made a mistake and put both of my coats in only one hanger and so, giving me only one ticket. So when i went back to collect them, even though i described everything that was inside my pockets, he didn't want to admit his mistake. Such a bad service and we still have to absurdly 2 pounds to get this rubbish service. Shame.

Absolutely true. Appaling! I paid £4.70 for a vodka and orange and it was poured from a carton of concentrated juice! I called the manager who said it was normal and it was everywhere the same. You must be joking mate! I said it was immoral but it wasn't moved; I rekon more people should complain, I cannot believe this can go on.
