La Giralda reviews

La Giralda does some fantastic Spanish food that's really authentic. It's good value for money in there too.

You could a lot worse than La Giralda.

We have been going with friends to La Giralda on and off for many years (at one time quite frequently). Visit this week for lunch was definitely more off than on! There were 6 of us and we were really squashed onto a table meant for 4 with just a very small extension held up by means of a couple of metal bars which slotted into the nearby wall - so no moving that table for elbow room! The staff were very pleasent as always, but the service was very slow. My fish (skate) was way overcooked and hence dry; others who ordered lamb reported that much of it was quite tough and my husdband's chicken was unremarkable with the sauce topping looking very dried up. One of our party who ordered a starter chose pate, which arrived with an extremely thin but soggy 'outer wall' - but no bread or toast to accompany - she requested some and had to pay £1 for the privilege of one very small piece. Which brings us to the charges for 'extras' which had been always included previously - we were eating from the main menu rather then the express lunchtime 'cheapie' - but all menus had extra costs attached. Two of our party had house wine by the glass, which was actually not too great a price when compared with the 'apple juice' - not actual juice at all, but more like the very cheapest of thin, clear supermarket offerings. Desserts were adequate - but nothing was 'special'. All in all a great disappointment, after so many past visits, I doubt that we shall return ... and can no longer recommend the place!

Just enjoyed an excellent birthday party at this venue. All of us (twenty in total) agreed that the food was delicious and the wines available complemented the meals superbly. The service was excellent and I would have no hesitation in recommending this venue to others in the future. I agree that parking can be a downside but there is a very convenient layby about 200 yards away, on the same road, which accommodates about 4/5 cars quite easily.

We've dined at La giralda over many years and can highly recommend the food, wine and service. The lunch time and weeknight supper menus provide an excellent variety of tasty dishes and are exceptional value for money. All the food is freshly prepared to order. Friendly attentive staff make you feel most welcome. A great venue for both couples and large parties....though it can get a bit noisy when the room is full!

We went to La Giralda ten years ago and had a very poor dining experience. We went back for a birthday celebration and wished we had stayed at home. I don't want to go on, but essentially 1) Food terrible. Underseasoned, overcooked, poor value for money, lacking in any flavour whatsoever. 2) Service - Poor, very poor. They forgot one of our main courses, but from the attutude of the owner, this must be a fairly common occurrence. Then a terrible argument over the bill where we were overcharged by £90. Yes, £90. In the end we walked out with the owner shouting down the road. How embarrassing for the other poor diners. 3) Decor. 1970's throwback. 4) Atmosphere - None In short, this establishment should be avoided at all costs - it was like living an episode of "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares"

I was pleasantly surprised at just how good a restaurant this is. What entices you back? The food, the service, the atmosphere, value for money? Well, this place scores highly on all four counts. I had the pate as a starter (9/10) followed by the rack of lamb (cooked perfectly, 10/10) and finished off with ice cream (9/10)and cheese & biscuits (8/10). The best dining experience I have had in a very long time. Do go along you wont be disappointed.

La Giralda is one of the most ambient, exciting and fully packed set continental restaurant you could ever try. The venue is always full and frequented by very regular comers for years and years.

The establishement itself is very Spanish and the staff is ever so willing to meet your demands and cheer you all the way. So whenever you are free to come and visit La Giralda, please welcome with a big heart, for the rest is done by the very friendly team.
