Great place!!The ground floor is largely retail, the highlight of which has to be the butchers.
These guys really know their stuff. In addition to the usual cuts and sausages, they do pre-prepared stuff which you can take home and stick straight in the oven.
The veal meatballs are outstanding as are the chicken parcels (with spinach and feta). But for me it's the chicken kievs. This is the only place i buy them now!
There is fruit and (limited) veg, bread, teas, olive oils etc, but the other highlight is the food to go counter.
This consists of a comprehensive salad bar and sandwich counter. You can either take away from here, or enjoy at one of the inside or outside tables.
Sit at the communal one, and you never know, you might be next to Jason Donovan or Peggy from Eastenders.
Downstairs used to seem like a bit of a dead space, but recently, they have focused on developing it into a cosy little wine cellar.
On the first floor is a cafe, where the wine costs the same as downstairs off the shelf. This makes a lingering lunch really good value......wish more places in London would do this!
Food in the cafe is again excellent, especially the specials. The cafe is popular with young families at the weekends, so noise levels can get a little overwhelming.
If that's not your sort of thing, I'd go on a weekday, which are a little calmer....But definitely go! Brilliant addition to a lovely high street. Top marks!
