Navarros Tapas Bar reviews

Navarro's Tapas Bar kicks all that chain competition to the kerb. Still busy, after years of being around, if you don't book at Navarro's Tapas Bar you'll probably be left pressing your nose against the glass hungrily. Serves you right.

Navarro's had been acceptable on previous visits - nowhere near the food standards set by Camino's in Varnishers Yard - but to run out of the basics at 21:00 on a Saturday will make this weekend my third and final visit. No Pimento's del Padron? OK, it's a staple so may be subject to unforseen demand. But to run out of bread ? When it's sold at 1.95 per 4 small chunks, the maitre d' would have been better off scouring Charlotte Street for a loan than diligently counting the takings! The offer of sliced bread (white!) didn't help. Good while it lasted, but time to move on.

Visited Navarros this weekend and had a relatively nice evening. There was six of us and generally speaking the food was very nice; however, reading some of the below comments I concur entirely on the service. Very slow and sporadic. Staff were okay, but not very personable. Everything seemed to be a bit of an effort. A real shame because the restaurant had a fabulous ambiance about it. Would I go back - unlikely, as there's too many other good restaurants to try!

We just ate there this past weekend as a group of 8 and we all loved it: the food was excellent, the service was very friendly and it has a great atmosphere.

Our only gripe was the uncomfortable chairs, but other than that we are already organising our next trip there!

Really tasty, authentic and generous spanish tapas.

i love the atmosphere at Navarros also, its always buzzing thats whay you always have to book for dinner.

i'm surprised at these reviews, the service we received was good considering it was so busy and both the lunch and dinner managers are lovely and attentive.

by far the best spanish tapas here in central london. by the way i would hardly compare salt yard to navarros, they are completely different types of cuisine!

I have to agree with Saralmharris - I had a similar experience recently when a group of us went there for my birthday. The service was poor - amongst other things, we had to go for long periods without any wine on the table. I paid a £75 deposit to book the table. I forgot to ask for it back on the night and when I did the next day, the manager refused to give it back. He was extremely unreasonable and difficult to deal with but after two phone calls (he had me on the verge of tears both times) and a visit I got £50 back. They had kept it as a tip, on top of the service charge. Have to say, I like the atmosphere, but won't be going there again!

I've just got back from Navarro's and despite the food being OK, the service was absolutely terrible and actually quite offensive. The manager is absolutely terrible - he was very rude to us when there was confusion over our ordering of a set menu, and then refused to talk to us about the problem. The whole thing needs a big rethink - I would go to Salt Yard on Goodge Street instead or Fino just around the corner - a much better experience all around.
