Pakwaan Punjabi Cuisine reviews

By S.

I loved the look of Pakwaan Punjabi restaurant - it's very modern yet retains the feel of a traditional Indian restaurant. The food is of excellent quality and they are even willing to amend a dish to your particular tastes. Pakwaan Punjabi is a bit of a treck if you're in the city centre but any Ilford locals should definitely give this place a try.

This is not the first nor will it be the last review for both Pakwaan or AWS Events. Suffice to say as per my other reviews the food and the service are impeccable and could not be of a higher standard. Another thing that sets these two companies aside are the exquisite attention to detail. On the 27th of July I hired the service of the companies at the holiday inn Newbury Park for a Bengle ceremony. On arrival my daughter was greeted by an immaculately decorated swing that took her breath away. It's this important But often over looked attention to detail that sets these companies apart.

I have been visiting Pakwaan for the last few years with my family and as yet have not been disappointed with their service/food. Based on my experience with them, I contacted AWS Events (Sister company of Pakwaan) for my daughter`s wedding on 03rd of August at Britannia Int`l Hotel, Canary Wharf. Wedding is one of the most important day and require nothing short of perfection. I found AWS events very innovative and imaginative in providing number of different ideas for the function. Their approach of working in a focused and dedicated manner was very much appreciated and it also made my life stress free. Let us now talk about the catering service. Catering can really make or break an event. I admire Rajesh`s enthusiasm for business and determination to produce superb catering. Thank you for good food, quality service and on the menu selection. The food was well prepared and delicious, appreciated and enjoyed by all the guests. I have had nothing but compliments on the food and arrangements from all our friends. Your service from beginning to end was excellent. I am sure that if an occasion arises in future, I will have no hesitation in using your company again or recommending your company to a family member or a friend. Please accept our sincere thanks and gratitude for such a professionally arranged day!

I would thoroughly recommend Pakwaan and their associate Asian Wedding Events Service! Planning a wedding is an overwhelming experience, and if you don’t know much about it, can be quite scary...not to mention expensive! Rajesh and his team were amazing; we picked them because we got a good vibe straight away, and was the best decision we could have made. He was always welcoming, informative and helpful- and certainly not too pushy. He entertained both our ‘laid back’ attitude by taking control and advising, as well as our occasional panicked moments by his calming and reassuring approach. The food is amazing; we were sold at the food tasting, and found ourselves using any excuse to meet up and dicuss the wedding again and again over dinner at the restaurant for months to come. Despite our reservations that this may not be of equal standing when catering for 400 at the wedding, and were proven very wrong. Yum yum. Oh, and not to mention; the decor, the cake, and the planning!.. and all at quite a reasonable price. We got everything we wanted, and thanks to sound advise, planning and resourcing, it didnt break the bank ;) Thank you guys for everything you did to make our day perfect. I really don’t think it would have been the same if we had gone with anyone else J

Attended as a guest to a party in pakwaan, ive been driving past this restaurant for many years and have finally managed to check it out. i have to say that they have found a new customer, talking to some other guests they are also in the same boat. The service was excellent for 100+ people, not forgetting the absolutely delicious food. thank you and i will be back soon, with family and friends.

Went there in June 2012. The table we sat on was very small, the food hardly fit on the table Ordered a 3 course meal, the taste wasn't great and the portions were very tiny and expensive. Will not be going back there again. You should get what you pay for!

i loved this restaurant soo much i thought i should post my comment here as well: Went to Pakwaan last night, the food was really amazing. service was brilliant. I Read about the festive offerings on the screen by the entrance and they seem really well priced for what is included. i was told by the boss that they have a live band that will continuously play for five days from 22nd onwards. i will definitely book a group party there for one of those days. I am really impressed with pakwaan, they truly deserve there 5 stars, the money paid for the meal was Worth every penny. definitely one of my favourite restaurants, my favourite for Indian food, best in Essex/London/UK. Liked: Food, Service, Atmosphere, Value

just had a meal at pakwaan, and i have to say it was absolutely lovely, for a week day i have to admit the atmosphere is built up from peoples conversation, it is amazing and very peaceful to just be able to relax with a good Indian meal in front of you after a hard day at work. I will defiantly come more often during week days, 100% bring my colleagues here for dinner, I'm sure they will enjoy the pleasant atmosphere with excellent food, just as much as me.

Had a Pakwaan Tiffin for lunch yesterday (thursday 14th April 2011) it was delivered right to my office, with excellent packaging, the driver pulled up in a pakwaan van, and called me down from my office, he was very polite. I still cant believe that I got a whole meal for 1 for just 5.00 pounds- Pakwaan sure knows how to look after its customers , I absolutely love the food Pakwaan Punjabi Cuisine provides, its much better than some I've been to- I can even say its the best in London, I've tried a new restaurant which is very near Pakwaan, but I don't think too much of it, some surrounding restaurants around Pakwaan looks the same but the food is far from perfect. I love Pakwaan, I can even sing "pakwaan till I die". Keep the great work up guys!

i was at pakwaan on the 23rd Dec as well with a group party, i can speak for all in saying that the evening was amazing, we were the guests that sang on the mic, i am sorry that you felt annoyed but the whole point for a good night out is to join in with the provided entertainment. i feel bad that you have to review pakwaan with a low rating, i do think that the service was good, the music great and the food is the best in the area. i am not sure that your comment can be taken into account when reading reviews about good restaurants as it looks rushed judging from the spelling.

many words can describe his place, but i can sum it all up into one, that is Outstanding. i visited Pakwaan for the first time on Saturday the 13th November. i was a guest at my friends party, the manager had taken care of us throughout the whole evening. looking at all the guests, it was all our first time visiting Pakwaan, due to this we had asked the manager to order for all of us. The food was excellent, i enjoyed the pickled lamb dish, i have never had this before, but trying it for the first time i cant make a comparison to other restaurants on how good this dish tastes. the con of the evening was that the musician did not get round to singing my song, but overall the atmosphere was great.

I have visted this restaurant a few times as it is open quite late, a few weeks ago myself and a few friends went there to celebrate a birthday, i have to say the service was appalling, we first waited 20 mins for someone to take our food and drinks order... then waited 30-40mins for our starters which were ok but lacked quantity, the main wasn't much better which we had to wait another 30mins for. we then had to return the chicken dish as the chicken pieces in the dish were cold, this was never replaced and was still put on our bill for us to pay. when we asked to speak to the manager Ricky, our waiter disappeared and did not return, we waited 10mins before getting up to pay the bill at the bar ourselves, to be told we still had to pay for our returned chicken dish as she was not aware that we had returned it and the waiter that was serving us had gone home. we paid the bill minus the chicken dish and service charge. i dont think we will be going back there again.

31/12/09 - 1/1/10 i celebrated new years at pakwaan for the first time. normally i go to passage to India, but this year i fought i would try something new. pakwaans pulled off one of the best new years that i have celebrated, with a great family and friend crowd. my family had enjoyed it so much that we have already decided to reserve a place for next year. i feel sorry for those who had to miss out on the great experience, and especially those tables that where turned down. i really love the manager at pakwaan as he provided unexpected gifts such as lottery tickets and raffle. even though i didn't win, these small things make a big impact. the service was good, especially the two barmen who served a round of shots to me and my family all night long. i genuinely believe that the price was low to the quality provided. i will definitely come to pakwaan more often and assure them that i will book for new years again.

I have booked parties at pakwaan for many years and still am very impressed. looking at other users comments i am devastated that their experience was not as enjoyable as mine.

i would definitely say to those people to give pakwaan another try you will not be disappointed.

the taste of our homelands cannot not be re made elsewhere but Pakwaan. the best thing about pakwaan that it caters for all communities.

I have never chosen another Outdoor caterer but Pakwaan as they never dissappoint with their exquisite food.

the manager always knows what the customer wants, at my last function he had made the chefs do live cooking in front of all my family which makes the experience even better.

i live in india and had come across the reviews about pakwaan, when i last visited england last year, i had eaten at pakwaan and had enjoyed the food and service very much.

i was very lucky that evening to go to pakwaan as one of my favourite singers Miss.

Pooja was dining their. the Director Mr. Rajesh was so comforting that he was able to arrange for me and my friend to get a picture with her.

this has been my biggest achievment to meet with Miss. Pooja, and also it has made Pakwaan memorable for me and my friends who visited.

i definately will go there to eat when i go back to england. Who knows maybe ill meet another celebrity there.THANK YOU PAKWAAN FOR GIVING ME A GREAT MEMMORABLE EVENING.

Hi, my name is Rohan and I am from India (Mumbai). I’ve come to London for a holiday. Whilst here, I was recommended to eat at Pakwaan Punjabi Cuisine which is located in Ilford. I have previously eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants in various areas, however I found that Pakwaan has particularly intrigued me.I have been there a few times and each time, I found that the Management and Staff are welcoming and make the experience a night to remember. The weekends have a lively atmosphere and think that it has a good value for money. The food reminds me of India and would recommend everyone and anyone to visit Pakwaan Punjabi Cuisine.

I visited Pakwaan for the first time on Diwali 28th/10/08. It was a great experience with the host welcoming us all into a lovely atmosphere entering with star lights above us and romantic live music playing in the background, which made our evening most pleasant. Even though I personally do not celebrate Diwali, it was a great experience to enhance a different culture, which was not just brought out through its display but also within its north Indian food. all staff and directors were most pleasant as they had come to our table to have a nice friendly chat which made us feel important,, everybody was most welcoming as all customers were welcomed outside to see the firework display. Not just the the decor and atmosphere, but the food and service was spectacular.I would definitely recommend this as an enjoyable family night out in east London. WELL DONE PAKWAAN, KEEP IT UP. I will definitely come back with more friends and family.David Fletcher

With Pakwaan being refurbished, I am very pleased to say that Pakwaan has pulled itself together, with new and trained staff. My evening was most enjoyable on the 18 October, from seating to paying the bill. The waiters were utmost polite, which had a welcoming entrance not just to me but all guests that I had saw that night coming through the front door. The food was extremely delicious with the fresh spices been prepared for each dish, I personally say complements to the chef. I would Definitely Recommend this highly to everybody in east London to come and experience a wonderful evening with great live music, who are willing to sing every request from lively music to classical.

Poor food, poor service, extremely poor entertainment. Had to wait 45 mins for the starter, a further hour for the main course of which one item of them main course came half an hour after the all the other main course items were served. Not worth the money I paid, nearly £200! Do not go here, this place needs new management quick time.

By Kangna K.

I would agree.

Pakwaan is the worst restaurant that I have been to. They overbooked the restaurant with two private parties and tried to squeeze me and my family (who had also booked a table for 12) on to a table sitting 10! We were seated at our table an hour after the time it was booked for. The Waiters were very slow and unorganised and on the whole very unprofessional. We had to prompt waiters to come and take our drinks and starters order, which arrived some half an hour later. We also tried to place our main course order at the time of getting our starters but no-one was ready to take it. After two hours after getting our table and three hours after the time that the table was booked for we still did not have our main course. When this was brought into question, the staff and manager informed us that they were very busy and that we would 'bear with them' and that all food was being prepared 'freshly'!!! They were very rude. The live music was also questionable!!

I would NOT recomend this resturant to anyone. I booked the table at Pakwaan and was asked to leave as soon as my meal was finished because they had other reservations which is very rude and not professional. I have visited many resturants over the last 25 years and never experienced this before. The food was floating in oil which is not healthy. There are many good resturants around this area and I think Pakwaan needs to change their attitude towards customers.
