Palm Beach reviews

If you like South Indian food as opposed to the more readily available North Indian, then Palm Beach is a pretty good place to go. The food is excellent though the only slight concern I have is that the service was functional and not especially friendly. This may have been due to efficiency rather than rudeness so don't let it put you off Palm Beach. The food is what you're going for anyway.

This restaurant has been here for a long time and looks inviting from the outside. I went there because where I wanted to go was empty and nothing worse than eating in an empty restaurant. It has a wide and extensive menu with rabbit and venison for example. The service is a little haphazard but friendly. The toilets are very clean! The food is not that bad but not good either! It seems to be very difficult to find a good Sri Lankan restaurant anywhere. Two nearby in Hendon and West Hampstead have recently closed after many years. Now Sri Lankan food is lovely as are the people. Its such a pity their restaurants are such a problem I can only advise anyone who loves this food to go to two ( out of the three ) South Indian Tamil restaurants in Willesden Lane Kilburn where the food is far better.

Just went there for a lunch takeway. They screwed up our order. Took ages to serve us 3 drinks while we were waiting, and gave us the wrong change.

Oh, and we asked for our dishes to be made as spicy as possible, and they came out only mildly spicy, and the dish we asked to be extra mild was as spicy as the others.

On the other hand though. The restuarant was clean and looked nice, and the food really was absolutely lovely.

So, nice food, nice decor, very attractive pricing. Slightly marred by the poor, or perhaps "lost in translation" service provided.

Having grown up in Sri Lanka and loving the food, I can't understand why there aren't more Sri Lankan restaurants around. I've been going to The Palm Beach for years now, and can't get enough of this tasty, value for oney food. I believe they've had a bit of a make-over recently, so I'm just on my way now for a late lunch.
