Radha Krishna Bhavan reviews

By Andrew M.

I've been to Radha Krishna Bhavan on numerous occasions over the past few years and have yet to be disappointed. The food is delicious and not too stodgy, while the decor is delightfully kitsch.

I'm a big fan of Radha Krishna Bhavan, and rave about it to all my friends!

It was a little wet so I did not want to walk around too much to choose a restaurant. The first thing you notice is that the window is covered in various posters which in my view detracts from the appearance. The decoration is OK although somewhat cluttered. Its neither too bright nor too dark so about right. There were about seven eating on a wet Monday evening. The service is fairly friendly but could be a little better. The Spanish house wine at £10.95 is quite good although we were not given the opportunity to taste it first which all good restaurants do. The paper serviettes and paper table cloth give a slightly cheap feeling but I am happy to accept them as cloth ones would need to add about a pound to the bill. The starters were quite good and reasonably sized. They took quite a while which gives the impression that they are cooked to order. The main dishes were less interesting and they seemed to have run out of the coconut for one of them. After the size of the starters I thought they were rather on the small side. The plain rice was a good size though. All in all quite a good place to go for a meal but it could be significantly improved by some simple changes like taking off the posters and some improvements in the service.

I too have been here many many times over the past two years and the service is wonderful, the staff extremely friendly and the food out of this world! We come every few months as we no longer live next to tooting but I would never go anywhere else and every time they remember us! I love this restaurant and the food is very authentic! I'm off there for a birthday celebration tonight! Cannot recommend highly enough!

for some reason it hasnt posted my other review. I went back to this restaurant for a 2nd time and it was like a totally different place. We were there for 1hour 45 minutes before our food came and when it did 1 dish was cold and another was a vegetable curry with only 3 bits of veg in a watery stock. The service was shocking and the food was awful. I definitely won't be going back again.

I am so disappointed. I previously reviewed Radha Krishna Bhavan and gave them 4 stars as I was so impressed so I recommended it to my friends to go back to again. I can not describe how awful it was. We got there at 6.30pm on a Sunday night and there were only 2 other tables in there. We waited ages before anyone came to take our orders and drinks didn't arrive for over 20 minutes. We had finished our poppadoms and still no one had come to take our orders for our main course. We asked repeatedly and finally ordered. We finally got our food 1 hour later! I don't know why we didn't just leave but they assured us several times our food was on it's way. They then brought us the wrong main course, one was cold and another one was a 'vegetable curry' with 3 pieces of vegetables in it and just a watery soup style. It was totally tasteless and the vegetables were like mush. I went and complained and the Manager told me 'what do you expect?' I said hot food without having to wait for an hour! We eventually got a replacement dish but when the bill came he then had added on a 10% service charge which was a total joke! This was honestly the worst food and service I've ever had in a restaurant and I was bitterly disappointed after my previous experience. Do not waste your time going here when there are so many other good and consistent Indians in Tooting.

An incredibly friendly restaurant with excellent staff, good prices and delicious food. One of the best Indian restaurants I've been to in Tooting and definitely worth checking out. The 241 is only on main dishes but prices are so reasonable it's a bargain anyway
