A hidden gem with a wonderful outside space perfect for summer eating
A hidden gem, tucked away in Newport Street in Vauxhall and attached to the Beaconsfield art space. With an outside area away from traffic fumes and passing pedestrians this little cafe provides a wonderful weekend retreat for the coming heatwave - you can soak up the sun outside or go inside the cool (in every sense of the word) interior to eat the delicious food, drink coffee or sample the wide range of cakes. They also cater for gluten free and vegan diets. The added bonus is the art exhibitions, when I was there recently this was young photography talent from round the world. The building is the old Ragged School and worth a visit just in itself. The menu changes regularly in the cafe and they use seasonal and ethically sourced produce and the prices are very affordable - perhaps aimed at the weekday lunchtime crowd that comes in from 'charity towers' down on the riverside.
