Raj Tandoori Restaurant reviews

By A N.

I fancied eating some Indian food whilst my husband and I were in central London today. So we used the foodfinder app and found that the closest Indian restaurant was Raj Tandoori in Berwick Street London. When we walked in (just after lunch time), we were the only customers in the restaurant. My husband and I were shown to a table, and once seated, the waiter came to take the order. I asked the waiter if they did a particular Indian vegetarian dish. The waiter said they did not and it was not possible to make this dish (paneer Tikka Masala). I asked my husband to order his food, while I looked through the menu. Being a vegetarian, I did not fancy anything from their menu. So I told my husband that he can eat, and I will eat something elsewhere. My husband did not want to eat there if I did not, and so we decided to leave. This is when the whole hell broke loose, the waiter/owner started shouting at us, saying we wasted his time, and that before we sat down, we should have asked if the particular dish was available! That we wasted his time by sitting down! He then started swearing us, by calling us 'bas****' coming to waste his time! We swiftly left, vowing never to go there ever again. What sort of a customer service is this. This is the first time we have ever been treated like this anywhere! What an awful customer service.

This is my favorite Indian Restaurant in London.

I love it's unpretentious decor and the food is absolutely delicious, try their chicken tikka masala (on the bone), or the chicken rogan josh, its some of the most authentic food outside of India.

Full flavoured and spicy! I find the service always attentive and polite but not too much in your face. Enjoy!

My friends and I dined here for my birthday and I must say I had a lovely time. The food was absolutely fantastic. I ordered their chicken tikka masala dish and that is the best curry dish I have ever tasted. The price is more than reasonable considering their location. The service we received was first class. The waiters were extremely friendly and was always nearby when needed. It is definatly worth a visit.

The set at Raj Tandoori Restaurant dinner had enough value for the money, and the lamb was delicious. Altogether the food was neutral and ordinary but cheap.

The service, on the other hand, could been better. I do not understand Indian restaurants in London. The waiters practically do not speak to you, sometimes not even look at your eyes. Please, Raj Tandoori Restaurant, more personal service!
