Sacred reviews

By Mark F.

Sacred is brought to Westfield from the New Zealand team behind the highly rated Soho tea and coffee house. A stylish boutique cafe, Sacred serves specialist organic teas and refreshing coffees alongside a tempting range of seasonal paninis, baguettes and desserts. Distinguished by its distinctive candelabra, and the hordes of thirsty shoppers queuing for coffee, Sacred maintains a speedy yet personal service in an extremely busy location.

The Venue
Sacred benefits from a central location in the main entrance to the Westfield shopping centre. Wooden stalls and dark wooden tables provide a comfortable space surrounded by a walled area with plants. Fresh flowers are displayed on the bar, where food is displayed and trained baristas can be seen preparing drinks.

The Atmosphere
The cafe manages to maintain a calm atmosphere within a bustling location. Staff are noticeably friendly and patient when dealing with the crowds. Although a fast paced cafe where tables often have to be shared, Sacred can provide the perfect space to take a break from a busy shopping trip.

The Food
Whist predominately specialists in exceptional organic coffee, the food served at Sacred is largely under the same vein – simple, flavoursome and prepared to a high standard. Paninis start from £2.80 and include a hearty sausage and tomato option, thick slices of peppery sausage gently flavoured with sage, served with sweet sun-dried tomatoes and covered with tomato based puree with undertones of ginger and lime.

Sacred alternate daily between a meat and vegetarian soup offering which includes a substantial creamy potato and leek option served with a crusty roll. Snack options include hand cooked crisps, oat snack bars and croissants starting from £1.20. Indulgent deserts range from scones (served with traditional English tea) to the distinctive raspberry white chocolate brulee cheesecake, a brightly coloured dish with a delicious soft, fluffy centre, crumbly ginger base and sugar glazed topping, served with a helping of fresh clotted cream and drizzled in fruit puree. All food is served in recyclable containers which are cleared speedily away by staff.

The Drink
Sacred is a place to enjoy a wide range of coffees, with over 10 options starting from £1.50, ranging from iced coffees to Americanos. Creamy hot chocolate is also served alongside Sacred’s collection of refreshing specialist loose leaf fruit teas, served in a special pouch. Highlights from the varied tea menu include options such as revitalising Energiser, a sweet, cleanly presented tea with a strong hint of lemongrass and ginger, which can provide a welcome boost to flagging shoppers. Freshly squeezed fruit juices, natural and flavoured waters are served as well.

The Last Word
Sacred is well worth a visit for coffee and tea lovers alike. With an excellent seasonal food menu served by exceptionally friendly staff, Sacred provides the perfect place to enjoy a snack or well made coffee in a relaxed yet stylish environment.
