Stratford Picturehouse reviews

A bit cheaper than most of the bigger-chain cinemas in London, it really is a quaint movie cinema location. Close to the Stratford Underground Station and bus stations, it sits in a perfect location if you don't have your own transport. Recently, the seats were refurbished--a big improvement from the previous seating. Unfortunately, no cup holders. Another con is that the seating between rows is a bit too close for comfort, but if you're an average-sized person, you'll be okay. If you need extra leg space, however, you will need to sit in the front row or on the edge of the seating on the left or right side. The sound is efficient surronund sound and fills the auditorium adequately. You can get an alcoholic beverage to take with you into the film. The architecture layout of the building is quite unique. ~Sean Strickland

The one thing this cinema lacks is the opportunity to buy a subscription as a gift... As a grandparent living in Yorkshire - with family down near Stretford, I'd like to give an annual subscription (to say 3 films) for 'cinema treats'. This opportunity is available here in YORK and proves to be a success. The subscription/membership card also gives a discount on other sales (drinks etc.) which also adds to the experience. Something to think about perhaps? Sent by an indulgent Nana!

picturehouse, I would like to leave a wonderful review for picturehouse in stratford. I just want to say how welcome I feel every time I go there. It's a small cinema but I love the family feel it has to it. I go to picturehouse so much that now the staff actually recognise my flat mates and I . We are all film lovers and it is so nice to be appreciated there. All the staff are extremely nice and happy to be working at picturehouse. I have never got this sort of feeling from other cinemas like vue for example. They're very overrated i think. The prices are very reasonable and the cinema experience is always good. Three words to describe my experience; wonderful, friendly and welcoming! Thank you so much for giving me such a good experience. I will continue coming to your cinema for a very long time :-D.

Stratford Picture House is a refreshing change from the big chain venues - as you'd expect from an independently owned group (Picture Houses). From the top: the interior architecture's apposite and atmospheric; the staff are always accommodating, professional, and friendly - and the same people have worked there for as long as I've been going (at least two years); there's a good bar, and you can take your drinks into the screens (there are four - a welcome departure from the near-ubiquitous prohibition on alcohol-plus-film rule in the UK); and recently the group has started carrying live theatre and opera broadcasts from the National, the Met, and so on - a great addition for people who don't have the time or money to go to New York, for instance, for a performance ... Only one downside: the manager's choice of music for the venue sound system: I'd rather have the natural sounds of the building than retro-musak, and apparently played without any sense of irony ...

Go on a Monday and you can watch a film for half price (3.50). everything about the place is good except for the seat which are not roomy enough. The popcorn is sooooo nice. all in all a very good Cinema. I ll recommend it to anyone

A great little cinema with great seats, transport links and very good service. The prices are cheap, esspecially on mondays(£3.50) aswell as the popcorn and drinks are always lovely too. I would of gave it 5 stars but for the simple fact that its abit to far from me as i live just by kings cross and although its cheap, by the time i pay for the underground to get there i might aswell of gone Tottenham Court Road or Camden Odeon's! Overall a great, quite, comfortable place to sit back and enjoy a modern movie or even an old classic.

This lovely building has to be commended for its superb architecture. With just four screens it is not too big but this does limit the number of films they show so check whats on before you leave home. The seats are wide and comfy with plenty of leg room.

A lovely cinema to visit, if a bit limited on choice of films.
