Sushi Bento reviews

Please avoid by all means, if you want to eat Surimi wrapped in rice it's your place. Their menu is completely misleading for instance they stuff the californian Roll of surimi and a wafer thin slice of prawns (surimi is not even if the ingredient list but it is the 95% of the roll). Don't get ripped, avoid

One star is more than generous for this absolutely terrible restaurant. I can only presume that the owners of this restaurant have some incredibly good friends who left the initial reviews on this page. £16.80 (plus 10% for 'service') for awful hot food, woeful sushi and the aforementioned barely existent service is virtual extortion. The rice in all the items of sushi was warm, stodgy and frankly appalling. The sashimi salmon was so thinly cut you may as well not order, the octopus balls had the smallest cut of octopus I imagine is possible. The nori used had it's day in the 60's, and the tempura was limper than my mood when the bill arrived. It's harder to comment on the rest of the dishes as roughly half of what we ordered never actually made it to the table before we gave up and left. So in summary, go to Hi Sushi, even if it means a journey to Camden. In fact, you'd get better sushi from the M&S next door than you would here. The fact all the staff spoke Cantonese shows the authenticity on offer.

I wish there was a review on this site that actually said about how terrible this place is before I actually went. One of the reviews compared it to Hi Sushi restaurants. I can tell you that this place comes nowhere close to it in quality or taste. The sushi rice was still hot and stodgy and was a massive chunk in an attempt to fill you up. Other hot items e.g. prawn tempura, chicken teriyaki, gyoza did not taste good. The service was poor and half the stuff we ordered didn't turn up. For £16.80 which that cost, I would make nan effort and go Hi Sushi or in fact any other place.

This is not a genuine Japanese Sushi restaurant, but a Chinese - run place. My wife vomited copious amounts of uncooked chicken the minute we left; the noodles were swimming in grease; some of the sea bream sushi actually had bones in and their were portable heaters on the floor. Whilst £16 might appear cheap for an eat as much as you like sushi restaurant, they stipulate that you can only be there for a maximum of 2 hours and if you leave any food on your plate you have to pay separately for that. Also there is a 10% service charge (with no service). the total bill for 2 (including green tea and an apple juice) was £46. Not cheap. Sick wife. Unless you enjoy the idea of having food poisoning avoid this place.

Sushi Bento is only a one minute walk away from Southgate tube station (Piccadilly line), and they have *delicious* sushi! I went there with my boyfriend and housemate, and we all went for the 'all you can eat' option which is £16.80 per person. You can get to choose from loads of options such as rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and also many warm options. We usually go to Hi Sushi in Camden and have the buffet option there (which is also very good), but we were impressed with the variety of sushi options and the quality of the food at Sushi Bento. The location and interior are, however, not as convenient and nice as Hi Sushi in Camden and it was a little chilly in the restaurant when we were there. The service, on the other hand, was a lot more friendly! In short, despite the restaurant not being as stylish and cosy as Hi Sushi, we enjoyed the food A LOT and we'd definitely go back to try out the many sushi dishes which we didn't even get round to trying. :-) Recommended for sushi-lovers!! + Very good quality food (!) A lot of sushi options (!) All you can eat option at a good price (£16.80 per person) Friendly service - Interior: not as cosy and nice in comparison to other sushi restaurants we know Location: very up North London, may not be convenient depending on where you live Heating: it was a little chilly

We've been last night at this place and I've been so delighted. The food is so brilliant, so fresh and so nicely cooked. All sushi and Japanese food lovers must visit this place and they will not go to any other places but this. Before we always were going to café Japan and we liked that place, before we’ve tried Sushi Bento in Southgate. The atmosphere is so pleasant and quiet; you can hear nice Japanese music only at the background. When you are there you fill yourself at home. The service is amazing as well, the stuff are not annoying, they don’t rush you to finish and also coming in the same moment you call them. We are so happy we’ve tried this place, now we going to go there more often.

I had a lovely meal at Sushi Bento last weekend! It was so easy to find, is opposite Southgate underground station so getting there was no problem. They have started do all you can eat for £16.80 everyday on their menu, I thought is too good to be missed since there is a wide variety of food to choose from. The food came very quick, and it is the best sushi I ever had - I say is better than Yo Sushi! The quality of the fish and rice. You can tell instantly is fresh. They also do Katus curry, ramen noodle, dumplings. Which is very nice, better that Wagamamma! The service was good, they did not rush me to finish and the place was very clean. For £16.80 is the best sushi and all I can eat I ever been to. I see that they do 1/2 on food on Thurs evening and on lunch every weekday! That makes Katus Curry only £3.50! I am going to try that next week. Enjoy and hope you like it as much as I do!

Great and surprising to find a Japanese restaurant with such good food in Southgate! Sushi was well prepared with good cuts of fish and good light consistency rice, rather than the cold soggy stuff you get in some places. The tempura and gyoza were light and crispy, and the all-you-can-eat option on the night we went made for a good deal. Service was polite and friendly too.Would definately go back.
