Taste of Kerala reviews

We were regular customers here. But now, the customer service has deteriorated badly. On a recent visit there, we found a lady serving us tea, banging the cups on the table spilling some of the contents ! Then she just turned back and went off!! She later took our orders in a very dominating/arrogant manner. We chose to ignore it. On the last visit - we saw the same lady, this time banging our glasses of water on the table and going off. Then shockingly, I found a fellow customer complaining to another staff, about how arrogantly his order had been taken. It was then that I realised we were not the only people feeling this way. After those guests had left, I found the staff discussing about them, and laughing/smiling among themselves - completely un-apologetic about all this. IMHO, this restaurant's staff today have an 'attitude' problem - completely unprofessional. That the customers will keep on coming, even if some people are hurt! I'll NEVER go back there again!

I am an Indian from Kerala (a state in south India) and know how Kerala restaurants should be I would rate this restaurant as one of best Kerala restaurants that I have ever eating in London. The prices are simply the best for authentic dishes. Try the chicken biryani made like it is made in Kerala in good quantity, not just with a chicken piece but also a boiled egg in it, just for some £ 3.00 Where in London except maybe in some supermarket can you get to sit and eat biryani for 3 pounds, that too in stomach filling quantities. Food is very spicy and authentic kerala style. Try some of the pan fried fishes like sardines or mackeral. The restaurant is run by kerala family. One dish which I was not very happy with was the kerala paroto which was not as soft as the ones we often eat in Kerala. (Of course by UK standards it was good, but I would not call it excellent). The only drawback I found in this restaurant is that space is very less (not a large space). Wish they would find some way to expand it. This makes the place a little cramped and congested. If you are not looking for extremely classy high class kind of ambience but real value for money, this is the place for you. (Although I would not recommend it for a highly romantic date or a place where you want to impress someone by ambience...!!)
