The Alchemist reviews

Gorgeous looking bar, very big and spacious with cute lights all in the windows. I went on Saturday and being in the city, it was quieter then it probably would be on a weekday. Cocktails are imaginative and delicious, my friend had the passionfruit meringue which was probably the best one! But we also had the bubble bath one, white chocolate and raspberry, lavender and the colour changing one which was cool to watch! Cocktails can take a while to be made, but when they're inventive this obviously takes a bit more time, but as the bar was quieter we were served pretty quickly.

Great service, friendly staff.

Went to The Alchemist yesterday afternoon for a bite to eat and a drink. The sharing platter was really tasty and service friendly and quick. Will aim to sample the cocktails when I visit again.

I recently visited this establishment for lunch with a friend and it was a very enjoyable experience. As it had been so tastefully refurbished and the food was so good, I decided to book it for our company's quarterly board lunch. I visited the week prior to the event and went through everything with the hostess Rebecca who assured me everything would be fine for a party of 16 at 12.45pm. After pre-ordering and pre-paying for the food, I received a telephone call the day before the lunch from Rebecca advising that the head chef and the manager had decided they would not be able to serve the food at 12.45pm as it would clash with the lunchtime service in the restaurant!! I was offered a refund and an apology, neither of which was very helpful as I was without a venue for the lunch and had board members arriving from overseas for the meeting. I was able to find another venue at short notice (thank goodness) but I am still in shock that a restaurant in the City cannot cater for a private function during a lunchtime service. Somehow I don't think The Alchemist will last for very long!
