The Hare and Hounds reviews

Ordered the falafel burger and Cajun chicken burger. The falafel itself was nice, bun and fries were mediocre and very greasy. Chicken burger was average, but the guacamole filling was poor and very thinly spread. Overall experience was mediocre - the food wasn't horrible but not great either. Comparable in quality to the "beer and burger" deal you get at Wetherspoons for circa £5 - £6 all in. If the price had been similar I'd give this a 4 star for being decent budget pub food, but at £21 just for the two burgers (without drinks), the quality just isn't up to what you'd expect for the price. With that said, the pub itself is very nice, with a great beer garden, and friendly service. Hence 3 stars overall.

I came here for Sunday lunch & had an awful experience. Admittedly there was a large number of us (12 adults & 10 children) but we have dined elsewhere in such numbers & not had such a disappointing lunch. The staff were polite. However they did not know how to do their job at all. It started when a waitress brought out one dish of mussels. She openly admitted that she didn't know how to put it down & looked to us, the customers to do her job. She didn't even attempt to find a way to do it. She just stood there staring helplessly at us. 3 of our companions ordered starters which seemed to throw the staff system completely because they didn't then get their main course until over an hour later. The staff didn't know to prioritise these main courses & get them directed to us quicker. At no point did they clear the table between courses or replace cutlery. They needed a lot of prompting for very little, obvious jobs. The food is definitely sub-standard for the prices they charge. The roast potatoes were soggy, the trout (£14) was the tiniest slither of fish & the mussels were tasteless. Apple crumble was what appeared to be boiled apples & crumbled digestive biscuit sprinkled on top. Any attempts to raise these issues were not welcome & the manager even rolled her eyes when walking away from our table. Very disappointing. Do not eat here.
