The Old Frizzle reviews

Went to The Old Frizzle a couple of weeks ago. I enjoyed the atmosphere and live music; the Venue is beautifully decorated and well-placed in the Broadway. We were greeted by friendly Doorstaff and although the Bar Staff were friendly, the service was really slow.

Last night at the Frizzle meant to be such a great fun to celebrate my best friend 30th Birthday. She made a reservation for over 20 people. Guess what?! On our arrival the table has gone to somebody else and some of our friends been waiting outside because the rude door stuff would not let us all in. I could carry on writing how badly we were treated as a customers and the "door staff manager" rude but will stop there. The Old Fizzle you won't be seeing us again and I hope you will be close down very soon. Fanks

Over priced average food. 7 of us went for dinner, none of us will be returning. I had the Hake 'special' it was cold and not cooked - so nothing special at all. I advised the waitress, my dish returned to the kitchen - they reheated it, needless to say it returned tasting no better. I chose to go hungry. Thankfully they had the good grace to just charge me 50% for my meal.

Went to the Old Fritzl (ha!) for the first time just for quiz night, which is supposed to be every Sunday at 8pm. Quiz guy didn't turn up. Tried again the following week. Quiz guy did not have enough quiz sheets so we couldn't play. Meanwhile we waited to be served at the bar for about ten minutes to no avail despite the fact that it wasn't busy at all. Place is always uncomfortably hot, is over-priced, and full of annoying lower middle-class hipsters anyway. Will stick to Wetherspoons around the corner as it is much more hospitable.

Really like the venue and the menu. Been here twice, first time they had none of the starters we attempted to order...and my burger was bright pink in the middle-steak yes, burger no. I told the waiter this when he came to collect the plates and he then made some kind of effort to say this was deliberate. Second time went with friends and I have never met a less bothered waitress. Third time lucky?

I've walked past The Old Frizzle nearly every day since it opened last year, and finally paid a visit for the first time this weekend. I can't believe I waited so long, this place is an absolute gem! When you walk past the window early evening, it seems to be just your run of the meal Wimbledon restaurant with quite a nice decor, but once inside you immediately realise there is so much more to this place than the dining area at the front. The venue actually reaches back pretty far, and there is a beautiful, plush lounge area behind the front restaurant that you can’t see from the outside. The huge bar that curves all the way around from the dining area and into the lounge so there is plenty of space to wait for your drinks, and the bar staff are pleasant and helpful. The food is also a massive plus point for this place; it is quite a small menu, but the quality is fantastic. I had the homemade 3 cheese Mac n Cheese with pancetta and Ratatouille and it was incredible! The nicest meal I’ve had in a long time, I can’t wait to try it again. Another great thing about this place is that it has different events going on all the time. We went on a Saturday which meant there was a live band playing, and they weren’t bad at all. I would maybe suggest having the volume a little lower in the dining area though. We were running a little late for our booking, but when we arrived they were very accommodating, even moving us to a better table than the one we had reserved which was very kind considering we were late and they could have given our table away (it was pretty busy). This is a great little place with good staff, a great atmosphere and amazing food! It’s not the cheapest bar in Wimbledon, but it’s certainly better than the boring and stale dodgy DJ, lycra, chav and attitude filled bars that are more common around the Broadway and town centre,. I can’t wait for my next visit!

Came with a table of 9 for a Sunday lunch....the service was slow, the charcuterie board was a miserable effort, some cold meat with a few slices of hovis brown bread. As for the main course awful...cold burger undercooked chips and again poor service. Gave dessert a miss after the poor showing.... There was some drizzle so we ran into the frizzle and got swizzled

Went to the Old Frizzle on Friday evening for the first time with 2 friends- had such a good night. Atmosphere was perfect.. drinks were a little over priced but that didn't stop us drinking nine Mojito's each & food looked amazing. Staff working hard carrying out table service and music good too. Will definitely be returning, really good night!!

Had a few beers and a burger in the Old Frizzle on Friday night, and I can't tell you how much better this place is compared to the Walkabout that used to be here. If you're after food, the Spatchcock chicken that my mate is also highly recommended. Bar staff were excellent and good atmosphere. Walked passed again on Sunday lunch, and it looked a bit quiet, but hopefully it will get busier.
