The Yacht London reviews

By Adam K.

Me and my wife visited Gibson's on the yacht on Sunday. The menu offers something for most tastes and prices. We had a roast menu and it was great. I had a Beef, tasted very nice, fresh and presented well. My wife had a roast lamb, also great dish, piping hot and left smile on our faces. Desert wise we ordered cheese board to share, it was great, selection of cheeses was fantastic. Professional staff, explained menus and looked after very well. Will be back soon.

It's a must visit place. We had dinner at the yacht and it was superb. Food nicely presented and fresh. We had duck and chicken skewers - amassing. Staff was on top of everything, whichis allways is a bonus, music right level and wisely selected. Thank you for amassing experience.

I totally agree with daveraver. Even the nice setting can not make up for the awful food served at The Yacht. I also can only describe it as "prison food". Any review that recommends the food here should be classed as very suspicious..

having had a Sunday roast meal at this venue, I fail to see why anyone has left a good revue so I can only assume that they are left by those who have something to do with the place. I was taken there for my birthday so had no expectations and was keen to go somewhere new, but this restaurant lacks quality in every department, I will definitely never go back or recommend it to anyone.. unless of course they want a poor quality, badly cooked/frozen prison style meal for double the normal price, with a horrendous overpriced yet vinegar style wine list, all served with the panache of a cafeteria table clearer. Couldnt find a positive, and I didnt even have to pay for my meal, so have no reason to be cynical, I was thankful in the day but others shouldnt have to get ripped off here. Not everyone in London is an unsuspecting tourist.

Fantastic place, would recommend for anyone!! Although its not open for a casual drink, I spoke to the gentlemen behind the bar when I was there who informed me that its currently having a renovation being done and that its now doubled as a private members club. Will be signing up very shortly!!

Had lunch yesterday and it was fab, what a view of London and the Thames. Staff were friendly and the boat is a dream. Well worth it!

I have frequented the Yacht many times and find the ambiance and views wonderful especially on a sunny evening over looking the Thames. The staff are attentive with a well stocked bar together with a complimentary menu. I would recommend anyone to visit the Yacht as you will enjoy the experience.

What a dream of a place....service was fabulous and what great views of the Wheel and Oxo buildings along with the river boats going up and down the Thames. Fodd was fabulous as well, along with the service! A place not to be missed!

Absolutely, fabulous. 19 at my birthday party yesterday. young and old all said the same. A wonderful experience. The food and service were excellent . The service was first class, and staff were so helpful and friendly. Prices were fantastic. I look forward to returning. Keep up the excellent work. ( worth 5 stars in my opinion) they really made my night.

I would not recommend this restaurant. When we arrived we were told there would be a 5 minute wait because people were taking too long over their food, we were kept waiting for nearly 40 mins and then told people were spending too long chatting. Our table wasn't ready and was set around us. We were not given menus. It took us a long time to get menus and then to order but once we had ordered we were interrupted twice to ask for our orders. The soup tasted as though it had been watered down to make it go further. The waiter who cleared away our starter plates came back after 15 mins to ask if we were waiting for mains, he then brought them out and served our mains to the table next to us who had sat down after us but had been served the wrong drinks already so couldn't be bothered to complain. He then brought us the wrong food and seemed to find this amusing. Some of the vegetables at the carvery were cold. It took us a very long time to get someone's attention to ask for dessert menus as all the staff were stood around the bar chatting. Dessert was unimpressive. We left in a hurry, it was all very embarrassing and the only people to say goodbye were the bouncers. I have never received such bad service and have received no response or apology from the restaurant since sending in my complaint. The food was also overpriced for the quality, and I had paid a fraction of the advertised price having purchased a Groupon voucher.

STAY AWAY! On arrival there were five waiters standing around with only two other tables with guests and yet it took over 15 minutes for someone to take our drinks order. Then we waited patiently for another 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive. In the meantime another table that arrived after us had their order taken and drinks served. I actually had to ask the waiter for our drinks. We were with my boyfriend's parents and the service was soo poor, it was embarrassing. To make things worse, the waiter got our drinks order wrong and tried to serve white wine instead of red. When I went downstairs to use the bathroom, I found the toilet seat on the floor of the cubicle. They only just opened for dinner service but clearly noone checked the toilets to ensure they were clean. Starters were average, main course was very chewy beef, most of it left on our plates and then we had a waiter ask us for our dessert order which they have already taken at the beginning of the night but seem to have forgotten since. I obviously did not leave a tip and left feeling pretty embarrassed. I would have received better service in a Wetherspoons pub. The staff were so disorganised, rather than having one waiter look after our table, we had five who didn't communicate and made constant mistakes. I actually bought another lazy Sunday meal I was originally going to give to my parents but after last night, I can only warn others to stay away. A beautiful venue ruined by below average food and very poor service.

I also went there in the summer of 2010, but that was on a special offer as it was still a (posh) Members' Club. The venue is now reported as "closed" and that is very sad indeed, particularly in view of the prime location. But I have said all along that the model (as a posh club with £10k pa membership fee) would not work in the current economic climate. Two teams of 'management' (the second one with the so called {fake} princes) tried and failed. Now it should revert to it's former role, as a Wine Bar/restaurant open to the public and moderately priced. Or why not turn it into a Weatherspoon Floating Pub!

Took my wife there for her birthday on 5/11/10 for a special treat and we are still talking about what a great experience it was. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was excellent and very well presented, my personal favourite was the seared stone bass with crispy calamari on lime mash with squid ink, this was perfection. My wife had pumpkin ravioli (starter) Fillet of Beef (main) I had game terrine (starter) all dishes were beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. The champagne and sweets were great as well. A thoroughly enjoyable fine dining experience and highly recommended. Thanks to all the staff at The Yacht. Kind Regards, David and Tania (Battersea, London)
