I've been to the Thomas Becket a few times now.
Mainly after work on a Friday and a couple of mid-week pints. The service is always good, the music is great and the decor is excellent.
Now that I have said that it's time for the bad stuff, namely the Sunday roast which was well below average.
First of all the menu is outdated. They do not serve the sirloin which was my first choice. The advertised 'slow cooked lamb' was disappointing mainly because it was grilled and also because it was tough as an old boot.
The gravy was served boiling hot. The vegetables were excellent though.
My friend had the beef burger and it was excellent. I also noticed 8 other people there eating the burgers and none eating the roast?
So, will i go back for the Sunday Roast, never. Would I recommend it? No, i would strongly recommend going elsewhere for a Sunday Roast.
Go to the Becket for drinks and tunes, it advertises itself as a bar and restaurant. Due to the lack of variety, the cost and the food served as a restaurant it falls flat.
