Manchester Road Inn reviews

By Andrea V.

Went to the Manchester Road inn for a Sunday lunch with my husband and 18 month old daughter. The food was lovely, we both had Sunday roasts and evrything was fresh and made from scratch, no frozen rubbish. My daughter had the chicken nuggets that were freshly made by the chef, they were chicken breast in a light tasty bread crumb coating, really nice. The chef came out afterwards to make sure we had enjoyed our meal. We will definitely be going back.

Called into the Manchester Road today after working in the area and couldnt of asked for more. I had the cajun chicken and it was just what I needed, real simple food, good portions at a reasonable price. Me and the Mrs eat out at least twice a week and Manchester Road Inn was as good as anywhere iv been in quite a while. Really friendly landlady (manageress?) and even the chief came out to say hello (jay?) will defiantly be calling in again with the Mrs really soon! I Smith Chorley

Has changed hands again which must be about 3 times in the last twelve months. On a visit a few weeks ago I was unable to try the food as they had none available, I was told the husband was travelling back from somewhere and that was why no food was on at present. I have been told that the food is quite nice and the menu although short was interesting. Nice and pleasant person serving on the day and assumed was the landlady. One side has been refurbished and with the removal of a couple of small walls they have made space for a pool table and more standing room, rear yard has been decked out and this is much improved from previous beer garden. On my last visit they had no guest beers or the usual brands and was offered the only option that was available but as it was Boddingtons I declined and opted for a soft drink. Maybe I'm being a little fussy but I'm not keen on boddingtons and I do like to have a choice of ales. Prices were average but lack of choice did let it down.

after writing a good review about the meals in this pub i am afraid i have to do a negative one, my first review was based on the sizzling beef which was lovely, but after returning today and having the roast beef dinner which i am sorry to say was awful, the beef was tough, roast potatoes had been left to go cold then reheated in the microwave and the gravy was tasteless,
