Travelled over from Yorkshire to see first night of Doll's House with Cush Jumbo as the door slamming Nora. Mesmerising, fast, contemporary. All cast brilliant, even the kids who appear in reality (rather than as off stage noises) and therefore stay vivid in your memory right to the end. The set, costumes, lighting and sound evoke a play that could have been written today or tomorrow even though it is set over a hundred years ago. The translation feels fresh and the central couple's games, wrangles and arguments reflect so many situations I've seen or been in.
All the performers were brilliant. Without exception. I want to see it again before the run finishes. Don't hesitate if you fancy it. It made me want to be a better husband!
