I first visited what was the original restaurant at this address many, many years ago, back then, food hygiene was not as good as it is now, and there used to be an Italian man, who washed up, in exchange for bedding down under the sink!
Thankfully, nothing like that happens now, and the food is as authentic as anything that is served in a UK restaurant.
It has undergone a refurbishment, making it look a lot more contemporary and modern than before, that to me was not a good thing, as I can now no longer sit there, and look around picturing where I spent many an hour a number of years ago!
To sum up, I would rather dine here than the far more expensive places on Maid Marian Way, and others near the city centre, for no other reason than the superb food. Sam (Sabir) the owner is a wonderful character too!
